Dirty Soap Dead!

Jenna Gering (aka @jennagering) tweeted today that E! has not picked up a second season of Dirty Soap.

Dirty Soap was a reality show that ran for eight episodes in late 2011. It starred cast members from The Bold & the Beautiful (Brandon Beemer, Owen), Days of Our Lives (Galen Gering, Rafe and his wife Jenna), Nadia Bjorlin (former Chloe on Days who appears on the web soap Venice as Lara), John-Paul Lavoisier and Farah Fath (who are a real couple, as they fell in love while working together at the late One Life to Live as Rex Balsom and Gigi Morasco), and General Hospital's Kirsten Storms (Maxie) and Kelly Monaco (Sam).

Things that happened during Dirty Soap included: Brandon dealing with his girlfriend Nadia's mother Fary, who could not stand him, the on/off feud between Farah and Kirsten who worked together as teens on Days, Kirsten's heartbreak over her brother going to the military, JP and Farah relocating from NYC where OLTL was taped to Los Angeles and the status of their relationship, Galen and Jenna's family life, and Kelly figuring out where she wanted to go in her career. The show had actors in their homes, on vacation, on the job, with other family members, and with viewers.

It is too bad this show hadn't come earlier, as it may have been successful before there were so many candid reality shows. Standing out in the crowd is difficult, when you have to compete with other programs following people's lives. Most reality shows that focus upon actors and the acting business specifically tend to be short-lived and this followed that pattern. As many of the actors on this show are now unemployed as they were either let go from their soap or it has ended, hopefully they will show up on television in other projects.
