There was a quick blurb in the print edition of TVGuide, which features the NCIS 200th episode. Click here to read it online.
Having General Hospital air at night, for a short time of the year is interesting. This may be a good idea, but trying to keep people interested when there are so few episodes is difficult. Yes there are series, which do this, like HBO series and Mad Men on AMC. Other than what AMC does, the rest of the channels that use this method are pay channels like HBO or Showtime. People pay money to subscribe to that channel, which is a very different model than ABC.
Hopefully this news didn’t come out as a stopgap, to keep people from being upset about it going away from ABC daytime. Telling the audience, don’t worry it will be on in the summer, and then that summer never comes would be devastating. That said it would keep angry viewers at bay because there would be less protest because people wouldn’t realize it was actually gone.
Here’s hoping if this happens, that episodes of GH do air on ABC and all of them made are shown. Regardless of how the ratings were on SoapNet with Night Shift, all episodes were aired. The nasty habit of buying a series and then canceling it before a story arc is over is a fear that comes booming in my brain. It will be interesting to see if this is just a wild rumor or legitimate, but usually TVGuide tends only to print from valid sources.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
