TVLine did five recent lists about soaps as a follow-up to what they did with best couples back in 2016. Below are my thoughts.

Days: Bill Hayes "World By the Tail" Documentary

There is a documentary posted about Bill Hayes (best known to soap fans as Doug Williams) on "Days of Our Lives". The video, which is available to view for free on Vimeo, runs a little bit shorter than 1 hour and 20 minutes. Below are my thoughts on it.

Here is my summary of the As The World Turns chapter of All My Afternoons, a book from 1979 by Annie Gilbert. They break this chapter into three parts: one is general information, dressing room drama (quotes from actors on the show at the time) and from the script (one page of script from 1976.)

Soap Opera Stars November 1984

While looking for something that had nothing to do with soaps, I came upon an issue of Soap Opera Stars from November 1984. Other than the reader’s poll, and a humor feature of soap opera bloopers, what is interesting is how many of the people in the magazine are still known to viewers of soap operas today.

Love in the Afternoon Super Feud Special- Watching Family Feud from February 1982

For two weeks in May, GSN aired two weeks of special episodes of Family Feud from February 1982. At that time, Family Feud aired as part of ABC's daytime line-up, so they cross promoted their soaps on the game show. The soaps aired on ABC at that time were All My Children, Edge of Night, General Hospital, One Life to Live and Ryan's Hope. Whatever money the teams made went to charity that was chosen by the actors on each particular team. The first week all five teams played twice. The two teams that raised the least amount of money played on the fifth show as a tie-breaker. The team that won on Friday would continue on to play the second week while the losing team on Friday stopped.
