Thoughts about "The Doctors" - February 1976

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of February 1976.

Michael Paul was ill, but since some episodes were missing, what caused it was unclear. He was doing better eventually. MJ and Alan were intimate, but Alan worried about the baby. MJ shared her fears about Alan with Penny. Later we were told that Alan asked Toni to marry him again. Toni though still has a thing for her ex-husband Mike, and they were both hot for one another though they haven't had sex. Martha shared her feelings about sex, and how she is more attracted to her current boyfriend Ernie, than to her late husband. This was a surprise, as we aren't allowed to see Martha and Ernie that way.  Mike and Alan got into a fight, and then Alan resigned from the hospital. Due to what happened between Mike and Alan, it looks like Matt will have to fire his son. MJ was surprised to hear while talking to Rico and Stacy that Alan left Hope Memorial and Madison.

Carolee got a great job offer in New York City, but only Mona was supportive. Everyone else thought it wasn't worth her time, as there was no way the family would move for her career. Carolee was very frustrated by this situation, and left while in a fight with Steve. Meanwhile Steve and Ann got closer, and danced and kissed in public, and later in the living room of the Aldrich house. Erich saw Steve and Ann together, and wondered why his father was like that with someone who wasn't Mommy. He told Billy and Mona, and Mona went to Ann saying while she prefers Ann to Carolee, it is about the family and Steve. Ann realized that Carolee knew her better than she knew herself, and that even though she was with other people, it was not the same. Meanwhile, Billy confronted Steve at his office, as he was upset over the prospect of losing his family. Billy got Carolee to come home, while Steve took the afternoon off and went to Ann's apartment (which was a new set). Ann wanted Steve to put on the ring she saved from their ill-fated weekend marriage. He said he couldn't do that, as this would be one afternoon, and then he was going to stay with his wife and family, and their professional relationship could not continue either. Carolee couldn't reach Steve, so she decided to go over to Ann's apartment.

In happier news for Billy, Greta and Billy decided to go steady. Billy gave Greta his class ring. This happened the night that Michael Paul was in the hospital, though it was weird how Billy wasn't allowed to be upset over his nephew's illness. Greta was comforting to him about his family situation. Matt and Maggie were at the hospital, and then went home to find them together. Matt is grouchier than normal also.

Matt and Hank don't know much about the coma patient except she isn't a Peterson. Jerry, her neighbor, shared some information about the young woman being allergic to bee stings, and that she did use drugs on occasion.

Eleanor was improving, and Dr. MacIntyre thought she could be released soon. Scott wished she could stay in the sanitarium for the rest of her life as Wendy was scared of her mother. The psychiatrist believed it was about Scott's feelings for Althea, but they had been barely seeing each other.

Those were the highlights of February 1976. February 4, 18, and 19 were missing. I guess that is the last we'll see of Alan Stewart as Gil Gerard left the program.
