The soap fan world was set ablaze with recent casting decisions for 2012 .
The biggest is that four One Life to Live performers and their characters are moving to General Hospital in February. There is even an ad running on both ABC and SoapNet. Basically Michael Easton (John), Roger Howarth (Todd), Kassie DePaiva (Blair) and Kristen Alderson (Starr) are going to be the newest residents of Port Charles. The reaction to this is mixed to say the least. Some people are thrilled a bit of OLTL lives on, while others feel that if GH is ending in 2012 they don’t want time wasted on characters from another show. My feeling is somewhere in the middle, I agree with the GH fan complaint, but I am glad for the actors to have work even if it is just for a few months. My greater reaction will come with how the story is handled and the canvas of Port Charles is reconceived. If the characters that have just been introduced in the last three to four months are eliminated, no harm no foul. If this causes long term people to be ignored, eventually being dropped, it is another case entirely.
The other news in GH land is that Finola Hughes and Tristan Rogers are going to be back for Kimberly McCullough’s exit story. This is a good move, as Robin’s parents Anna and Robert need to be there for this story.
Also on The Young & the Restless, Darnell Williams (Jesse) has been cast. The role is to be announced and we have no idea if he will be repaired with his long time All My Children acting partner Debbi Morgan (Angie on AMC, Yolanda/Harmony on Y&R).
All of these things are developing obviously and my opinions are subject to change depending on story.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
