GH: Brenda and Sonny Wed & No One Ends up Dead

General Hospital finally got to the altar and married. This wedding was years in the making and their dream came true. This post is about the ceremony and what happens next.

Truth be told, I’d been waiting years like some others for Brenda and Sonny to reunite and marry. It was something I wasn’t expecting to happen, but I am glad it has. Of course, I have to reconcile my thoughts that Brenda would be willing to live with a Sonny who is running a mob organization. This isn’t the Brenda of years past and she seems to accept his life with no reservations.

The wedding though was not without its stops and starts. Shawn nearly kidnapped Brenda, though Carly got in the way and it didn’t happen. Carly threatened Brenda, and she had to share her secret. While Sonny wasn’t happy that Brenda kept part of her past with Dante a secret, he forgave her and his oldest son. He went down the aisle and told her to stay. In front of his family and their friends they were married. During the reception Robin and Sonny’s children made speeches. Everyone was happy, but that was short lived.

As they were leaving the Archer Pavilion, Sonny wanted to say goodbye to everyone. Brenda waited in the car and then it exploded. Sonny and everyone assembled were horrified. Sonny first wife Lily died in a car bomb, and now Brenda, not Brenda. They showed a montage with Michael and Abby kissing again and Jax and Alexis toasting. The limousine though was bomb-proofed. The person who was blown up wasn’t Brenda at all, but Sam. Sam was injured, but alive. She had temporary hearing loss, but otherwise is fine.

Brenda though is still missing. Everyone realizes she was taken by the Balkan otherwise known as Theo Hoffman. They just don’t know Brenda’s location. Killing the son of the Balkan was enough for her to be a target and put everyone else in danger. What Brenda and the others don’t know yet is that her friend Suzanne is actually Theo’s wife. Sonny tried to kill Shawn to find Brenda, as he drew Jason away from protecting Brenda. Michael and Morgan were the only reason Shawn’s life was spared. He went to General Hospital for treatment, and was nearly suffocated with a pillow by another employee of the Balkan. Molly walked in and stopped it from happening. While at Kelly’s, Molly saw the perpetrator and Michael ran after him. Dante showed up before Michael could get into trouble with the law again.

When it comes to Sonny and Brenda’s story, I wonder what is next. Is Brenda’s child with Suzanne and Theo’s son, Alexander alive? Was she lied to for all this time, believing she miscarried in Africa? If so, will Sonny be able to accept this young one? Brenda is willing to be a stepparent to his children (except for the grown Dante). Will this near death experience that Sam had being in a car and blown up make her and Jason change their lives? Will this be the final push for Michael to join his father’s side to actively in the mob? I’m not certain, but these are the things I hope to find out while watching General Hospital in the next few weeks.
