A new development occurred in the relationship between Victor Kiriakis and Maggie Horton on Days of Our Lives. This blog entry speaks about that as I wonder what could happen next in their story.
In Maggie’s opinion, she and Victor were having their first real argument. She was butting into his business with Brady. Unintentionally Maggie admitted to loving Victor along with Brady, Chloe and baby Parker. This may not be a big deal to some, but for Maggie the idea she would even care about Victor seems to be shocking. Maggie has been so virtuous cares about tycoon Victor, who is a known criminal.
After Maggie’s admission, Victor took the opportunity to kiss Maggie. She seemed woozy afterwards. As it took her by surprise, and it has been over a year since she lost her husband Mickey. Maggie knew Victor cared, and they had a first date of sorts with a brunch, but things had slowed down considerably as they dealt with the issues of their friends and family. Since Maggie didn’t want more to happen and stated that she was leaving, Victor calmly walked her to the door. Of course, Victor not pushing her made her stagger even further.
It will be interesting to see how the people in Salem will react to the “magic” between Maggie and Victor (please pardon the pun.) Nearly everyone loves or respects Maggie, while Victor is seen as a “big bad”. The list of Victor’s crimes over the years could take a half of a page at minimum. This isn’t to say that Victor lacks morals, but when he feels the need to act whether it is in the best interest of his business, a family member or himself, he doesn’t hesitate. Victor didn’t look at the consequences ahead of time to see if what he did was “right.” Maggie is the first person in a long time that calls Victor out on his actions, and unlike most he listens to her. I’m glad that Maggie though is more than the “angel” on Victor’s shoulder though as that wouldn’t be as compelling. Since they are involved now, I do wonder if Maggie will stay strong or will her morals start to waver due to Victor’s occasional bad influence?
If someone had suggested even two years ago that people would be rooting for Victor and Maggie, I would have been perplexed. Somehow they have become one of the most unlikely though compelling pairings in daytime. While they may not have as much on camera time as younger couples have, they do have something in spades, which is chemistry. Whatever may happen in the future, I am glad that Days decided to give a romantic story to two performers whose characters have grandchildren.
