OLTL: Dorian and David Finally Wed

Today on One Life to Live Dorian Lord and David Vickers Buchanan were finally married for real. This ceremony was low key, but legal.

The wedding was attended by two guests: Viki and Bo. Viki obviously was the matron of honor while Bo was the best man. The vows were sweet, and fit the bride and groom. David failed to show up for two of their planned ceremonies. The first time his half-brother Spencer blackmailed him to break up with Dorian and last year his uncle Clint Buchanan kidnapped him. They had a Buddhist wedding earlier, but that reunion was extremely short-lived.

Dorian was horrified as David nearly called off the wedding again. She said no or never, and he relented. The movie of his life could wait a few hours, and seriously that would be a good ending to have a wedding. The program included inside jokes with Tuc Watkins poking fun at his own acting. They also stated that Brian Dennehy would play Bo, Dorian suggested Susan Sarandon for her character (though David mentioned Angelina Jolie) and they were looking for someone truly awful for Clint like Mel Gibson.

I’m glad that Dorian and David had a ceremony. Though I must admit I wish that more of their family had been in attendance. Blair, who was on today’s episode, should have been there at minimum. I wasn’t expecting them to bring in Cassie and Adrianna, but that would have been cool if they had. Wouldn’t David had wanted his little bro Matthew and his Step-Nora too? I just was surprised they didn’t make it a bigger event.

I figure due to Tuc Watkins schedule that this wedding and the mentions of the David Vickers movie that soon he’ll be off screen again. At least, it isn’t because David was forced to be away from Dorian and his family.

At the end of the day, we know that Dorian and David love one another. It has just taken a very long time for them to both be at the same place, literally and emotionally. I hope this marriage while small in scale lasts for more than five minutes even if the character of David is mentioned but not seen. I do not want this marriage to be an excuse to not see Dorian mix it up with the other denizens of Llanview.
