AMC: Susan Lucci on WWHL

Susan Lucci, otherwise known as Erica Kane to All My Children viewers, was on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, Thursday night May 3, 2012. The other guest was Mark Ruffalo from "The Avengers".

This episode was hilarious, and Andy Cohen's love of Susan was in full force. It was shocking hearing the story of how they first met. Andy was in college, nineteen years old and writing for the school paper. He didn't even know they would publish his interview with Susan, but he used that to meet her. Andy flew to NYC and the rest is history. They both had things in common like how they both wanted to be on/in the television as children.

Susan played plead the fifth and the question she refused to answer was who is the worst actor she ever worked with at AMC. The other was who was the best kisser Walt Willey and she mentioned her least favorite story something about clipping coupons about trees when married to Phil in the 70s. Too bad those episodes are lost, as now I am curious.

Mark Ruffalo played the emcee when Andy and Susan had an Erica Kane trivia contest that Andy won. It was called "anything you Kane do, I Kane do better" which is a play on the ditty from the musical Annie Get Your Gun, Anything You Can do I can do better. A couple of the questions neither of them knew like how many people has Erica stabbed. Susan remembered Dimitri, but had no idea that she knifed Zach, and David was right at the end. When Nexus was mentioned, Andy said how he always wanted to go there. Neither of them remembered how Kent was killed accidentally. The whole thing was a blast, as so many people can just dream about acting silly and gushing to a favorite performer.

At the end of the show, Andy quoted a part of Susan's book (this is only the paperback version, on my blog I've summarized the hardcover.) He did that in honor of naming Brian Scott Frons the jackhole of the day. If anyone has a long history with soaps or reads a lot about the genre, they know about the awful things he did to the genre since the 80s.

Next week we'll see if Susan Lucci's pilot Devious Maids gets picked up, it was mentioned during the show. This was a fun episode of Watch What Happens Live on Bravo. If you get the channel and enjoy Susan take the opportunity to watch it.
