On Friday’s General Hospital, Kristina Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) left Port Charles to go to Yale. As the daughter of Sonny (Maurice Bernard) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Kristina had to deal with conflict her entire life. Her mother did not approve of her father’s business and early on, she was raised with Ned as her father.
Earlier in the week, Kristina said goodbye to her younger sister Molly (Haley Pullos). Tears were shed between the Davis women, though unfortunately older sister Sam was still on her Hawaiian honeymoon. On her last day, a dinner party was held at her father’s son house. At that event, she said goodbye to her brothers Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Michael (Chad Duell). Also in attendance were their love interests Lulu and Abby respectively. Dante’s mother Olivia, Olivia’s cousin Kate, Sonny’s bodyguards Max and Milo, and Sonny’s former attorney Diane all came and went. Kristina only got into Yale because of something Sonny did, but hopefully this will be kept from Kristina for good. She deserves a good life away from the madness of the mob and to move on completely from the abuse she received from her former boyfriend.
Kristina was nearly ready to go when the guy she fell for Ethan (Nathan Parsons) showed up to say goodbye. Kristina and Ethan (nicknamed Ethina) were a ship that never really set sail. They seemed to have a decent sized fan base but with Lexi being fired the couple ended before it began. This is the second time the character of Ethan has lost his love interest, and he spends a lot of time speaking to a painting. (This is not a joke, really.) Ethan gave Kristina a present, a friendship bracelet, and she said that one day they would be together. He wished her happiness at Yale and for her to find someone to love. They hugged goodbye and he left though Sonny was even reluctant to give them that short time together. If Sonny hadn’t threatened to kill Ethan perhaps he would have been willing to explore his feelings for Kristina to a greater extent. Regardless, Ethan was a good friend to Kristina as he gave her self-confidence, and forgave her for nearly ruining his life.
The departure of Kristina to university upset many as they fired Lexi Ainsworth. Supposedly GH is going to recast the role, though the new portrayer has yet to be announced. They wanted to age the 19-year-old character that was being played with someone who was age appropriate. Obviously this didn’t sit well, as everyone matures differently. Some people are “lucky” and look younger than their age. I wish Lexi well in her future endeavors.
