Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of June 1969.
Carolee and Steve have now gone on some dates. She is becoming more than just a shoulder for him to cry on or a place with a couch for him to sleep off his liquor. Liz is not a fan of this relationship and feels that Carolee can do better. Jody Lee is back at work, and wanted to double date with Carolee and Steve, but neither Carolee and Steve liked the idea of going out on a group date with him and Liz.
Althea has amnesia after having brain surgery. She doesn't remember anything about her life including Nick and Penny. This is extremely hard for everyone at Hope Memorial as they've been instructed to not tell Althea anything about her past. Her psychiatrist Dr. Gellar feels the best thing is for Althea to remember her life on her own. Due to her mother's situation, Penny has to leave town and stay with her father. She felt Nick didn't love her anymore, and he reassured her that wasn't true.
Anna met the new pediatrician at the hospital Dr. Simon Harris. She did a puff piece about him for the rest of the staff. Nancy and Mike had sex, and now he wants to marry her. Shana, who is from Israel is interested in physical therapy and wants to learn from Nancy.
Anna continued her job, but wasn't a major player. When anything controversial happens at Hope Memorial, she has to write or speak with the press about the occasion. Jody Lee was still sick and we saw him at home. He wanted cards and letters, some of which were read on screen. Nancy and Mike now spend part of their free time kissing. Matt is horrified about the relationship, though there is nothing he can do to stop his adult son from dating a widow.
Those were the highlights of June 1969. It was great to see how Elizabeth Hubbard was playing Althea as a new person including changing her voice as the character doesn't remember anything. My favorite unexpected scene was between Nick and Martha. She shared her feelings about the death of her husband and seeing those two characters bond over loss was amazing.
