At the end of the General Hospital episode that aired on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, the One Life to Live characters returned to Llanview. Blair (Kassie DePaiva), Todd (Roger Howarth) Starr (Kristen Alderson), and John McBain (Michael Easton) were going back to Pennsylvania, though obviously if one reads spoilers this doesn't stick. Here are my thoughts on these recent scenes.
To summarize: Starr, Cole (Van Hughes) and their three year old Hope were in a car as they were rerouted by an airline to Port Charles, New York instead of Llanview, Pennsylvania. Even though Cole is a fugitive from the law and presumed dead, this was not touched upon on General Hospital. There was an accident and Cole and Hope are presumed dead. Michael (Chad Duell) was unsuccessful in trying to pull them out of the car.
The person thought to be responsible was Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) as everyone believes that he shot out the tires on Anthony's (Bruce Weitz) car. The program is implying that perhaps it wasn't Sonny at all, but his girlfriend Kate (Kelly Sullivan). The irony of course is if it is Kate, is that it looks like she has DID. If she does, this would be the second time Starr lost her child due to someone with this mental illness. In that case, there was a happy ending as her baby had just been switched.
Due to the accident, Blair came to Port Charles to check in on Starr. She had to break the dreadful news breaking the heart of her oldest child. There was no mention to Blair losing a child in the past, or how Starr thought Hope was dead. Todd then came to town to see their daughter. He jumped bail as Starr was more important than anything else. During this it was revealed that Blair was with Tomas (Ted King) and how Todd is still presumed to be Victor's (Trevor St. John) killer.
Both Blair and Todd befriended Carly (Laura Wright) in their own ways. Todd flirted with her, as he went to the Metro Court hotel. They used each other to try and get into GH. Carly wasn't caught before she saw her best friend Jason (Steve Burton), but Todd was able to see Starr. He vowed revenge for his daughter, and she told him about Sonny.
Later at the Metro Court, Blair and Carly talked about how they both were married numerous times to a dangerous man, Todd and Sonny respectively. Blair and Carly agreed that never again would they get involved with this person. Of course, ladies as history repeats itself, you never know.
Todd confronted Sonny with a gun in the Port Charles courthouse. What was kind of amusing was that Todd couldn't pronounce Sonny's last name correctly. The only reason Todd didn't shoot was because Starr and Michael walked in the room. Then John McBain (whose hair Todd complimented to Carly) came in shooting off his gun. The guards at the courthouse rushed in and he explained Todd being a fugitive.
Michael and Starr commiserated and seemed to agree about the issues they had with their fathers. While Starr thinks Sonny is guilty, she wishes it wasn't the case solely for Michael's sake. Blair and Todd flirted, in their own way, she asked him to apologize, and while he did, he added that she always liked him better than Victor. After she told him to shut up, he told her that he loved her too.
Before McBain left, he and Sonny had words. For a time, John loved Cole like a son, so this situation is personal. When John was in the FBI, he and Sonny knew one another. Back then John didn't have the patience to stop Sonny, but now he just might. Carly noticed their interaction and knew it was more than nothing.
So that’s the end of the first chapter of the Llanview residents in Port Charles. While it is known that Starr, Todd and John will be back on General Hospital as their portrayers have contracts, who knows if and when we will see Blair again or anyone else from Llanview.
I can relate why people would be upset. Out of curiosity I checked out the airtime for the Llanview characters, and on most days they had at least 10 minutes if not more. When a program is under 38 minutes when deleting the ads, that is a huge amount. I can understand why GH would show them a lot due to trying to get OLTL fans to watch, but a happy medium would be appreciated to try and make as many viewers copasetic with it as possible.

Ten whole minutes a day - oh that's horrible! Since they were on a total of seven days, that means they ate up a whole hour of time! Some GH fans have been up in arms at the mere thought of thier show being "invaded" by OLTL characters. As a OLTL fan who has pretty much despised Carly and Sonny for years, this is about the only way you'd get me to watch their characters And much to my surprise I found myself loving the interaction between these characters, particularly between Todd and Carly! Hope before Todd reappears the idiotic murder charges are in his past. As for Todd's pronunciation of CORINTH -os: Corinth = setting for "Loving, which just happens to be the first soap gig where Howarth and Wright worked together, twenty years ago. Coincidence, you think?
