Last week, soapclassics.com announced a new free episode along with a new set of ten episodes featuring As the World Turns' Jack (Michael Park) and Carly (Maura West) known to viewers as Carjack. Here are my thoughts on the free episode from Tuesday, June 29, 1999.
Hal (Benjamin Hendrickson) and Eddie (Nathaniel Marston) are watching Georgia (Jamie Dudney) on stage at Oasis. After everyone has left Georgia and Eddie talk about her performance. They start making out going down to the stage, after she talked about her performance of Annie. He then says how much he wants to be with her, and he is concerned that he is pressuring her. Georgia says she doesn't feel pressured or uncomfortable. They talk about how they want that first time together to be wonderful and romantic. At the end of the episode, they lay down together on stage in each other’s arms.
Rosanna (Yvonne Perry) and Brad (John Loprieno) are by themselves talking about Carly. She admits that the 5 million dollar scheme was ugly, as she wanted Carly to suffer especially due to baby Parker. Rosanna shares the story about what happened with Carly, Mike and Nora. Brad understands how Rosanna feels, and he tells her that he won't divorce Carly.
Jack and Carly are locked in the Lakeview wine cellar together. She nearly drops a 600-dollar bottle of wine and decides they should drink it. Jack doesn't understand why it would be expensive, as it doesn't matter. He makes kidding comments about it and then drinks from the bottle. She toasts to clean slates and then Jack says here's to Carly long live the queen. He then nearly dribbles the wine and finds a radio. She mentions how he saved her at Teague's cabin and later he says she saved him tonight. He leans for a kiss, and stops himself because she's married to his brother Brad. Carly mentions how she and Brad are divorcing. Jack and Carly are together overnight, but aren’t intimate though they sleep side by side. They begin to kiss as the episode fades to black.
Holden (John Hensley), Denise (Cassandra Creech) and Ben (Pete Parros) are wondering where Lily is as she is getting the baby back for ransom. Holden leaves the apartment, as does Ben. Denise is their with baby Hope and Andy (Scott DeFreitas) comes in to introduce her to Oakdale Court. At this point, Andy has no idea that baby Hope is his daughter. Andy mentions how he would be paid 75 cents to watch a baby as a kid, but would have done it for free. Ben comes back and finds Andy with Denise.
Lily (Martha Byrne) is with the Gary, who then fakes that he has their baby. He did it 250,000. He blames Denise for having been in jail, and then leaves her in the condemned building that is planned to be demolished on 6/30/99. Lily pulls a piece of rafter and then is knocked out cold. Hal and Holden are still together looking for Lily. They are in a car with Holden in the driver’s seat. It ends up being the next day, and we see some construction workers. Holden and Hal show up and Holden runs into the abandoned building that is filled with dynamite. He wants the door open and then Hal says it needs to be opened especially after Holden discovers Lily’s purse.
That’s my summary of the ATWT episode that is featured on soapclassics.com currently. I enjoyed this episode pretty much, and for the most part I was able to follow it easily. While Carly and Jack had some airtime, the episode was not just about them.
Hopefully the Carjack DVD set that I ordered for myself comes sometime next week. Once I’ve watched it, I’ll summarize the episodes and post my thoughts on them.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
