Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of April 1968.
Althea's new patient Lila Anderson caused problems for the staff at Hope Memorial. She wanted help, but her husband Ralph didn't want her to get treatment. Ralph had religious reasons, though it wasn't specifically stated on screen what religion he believed. Nick and Matt were also involved in her treatment as they performed surgery on the woman while Maggie watched. The climax of the story aired during May's episodes.
Nathan Bunker injured himself by working too hard to recover more quickly. He has to take it easy or else, he may be paralyzed for good.
Steve, Liz, and Carolee didn't have much movement as Carolee still doesn't know about Liz and Steve dating behind everyone's backs. Steve became interested in another woman Karen. What happened between them looked like date rape, but in 1968 that concept really didn't exist. While in Karen's new apartment, they had sex, but she wasn't willing initially and relented.
Matt and Maggie made up and had some wonderful couple time in my highlight of the month. They were alone together and enjoyed each other's company.
Since John Rice, Danny and the Winters are all no longer listed in the credits and haven't been seen since March's episodes it looks like they are off the program. At least all of these characters got positive departures.
