GH: Lucy is Back

Today, December 18, 2012, was the first full episode back for the character of Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) on General Hospital.

Lucy was now in charge of a cosmetic chain called CoeCoe after her last name. I wonder if that name was chosen to harken back to Coco Chanel. Felix (Mark Anthony Samuel) and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) went to New York City to meet with her about resurrecting the Nurses' Ball, which stopped being held due to budget cuts. Felix is one of Lucy's salespeople and lied to Sabrina convincing her that he knew Ms. Coe. They had to get past Bree (played by Meredith Viera, who is the current host of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. In 2013, some episodes featuring GH people will be shown.) They made it that Bree used to work for the One Life to Live character Renee Divine, when she was in the world's oldest profession. They could have made it that Bree worked for Ruby as she was also a madam, but I digress.

Sabrina did everything she could to convince Lucy to help them raise money for the ball. We saw some flashbacks of Lucy at the events over the years and she also talked about how she knew Robin (Kim McCullough). She mentioned knowing Dr. Scorpio as a girl, and also how she admitted to everyone about being HIV positive. Lucy admitted that her assets were frozen, which would keep her from financing the ball, but she would do anything she could to help them.

The character of Lucy Coe first appeared in Port Charles in 1986 as a librarian, and she broke stereotypes for that career as she wasn't as meek as originally portrayed. Once revealed to be a schemer, she got involved with married men. Over the years, Lucy mellowed as she was a surrogate to Dominique and Scott (giving birth to Serena), and later fell in love with Kevin. While she stopped being a home wrecker, she still had fun, see her choice of pet, Sigmund the duck. The character eventually was a vampire slayer on Port Charles, though at this point, I think we are supposed to ignore that part of the story.

From looking at Lucy's desk, it seems that she is Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) are still together. Hopefully this visit with Lucy will be a good one and not disappoint.
