Days: Brady & Kristen Had Sex

One of the newest plots on Days of Our Lives, is how Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen (Eileen Davidson) have now begun sleeping together. The relationship is surprising for a lot of reasons, which I'd like to discuss.
Kristen came back to Salem claiming that she is making amends to both John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), but now she's involved with John's son Brady. This obviously won't make anyone happy.

Brady wanted to keep Kristen away from John and Marlena, but instead they became friends of some sort. When Kristen was being attacked by a mugger, Brady saved her and ended up in the hospital for his efforts.

When Brady and Kristen slept together, they seemed shocked after the fact. I did like that they didn't feel guilty. They are consenting adults even if it isn't the kind of relationship either one planned.

One of the reasons this story direction is surprising is many years ago, Kristen was Brady's stepmother. At one time, Kristen was pregnant with Brady's half-sibling, though she miscarried. There is a huge age difference between the characters as well.

Hopefully as time goes on, we will see whether or not Kristen manufactured getting sexually involved with Brady or if she was just taking advantage of the opportunity. She didn't scheme to get Brady into bed, but since they were both interested, she went for it. Kristen would know how much this would upset everyone and if she could turn Brady against his father and stepmother that would be a success.

This story while rather new has caught my interest, which is why I decided to take some time to write about it. The list of characters in daytime that have slept with both a parent and a child, is somewhat short. Days of Our Lives isn't known for this kind of story, which I wonder isn't part of the outcry from some viewers. This is something that was more of a staple on east coast soap operas.
