Y&R: Christmas in Soapland 2018

The Young and the Restless celebrated Christmas from December 21 - December 26, 2018 (four episodes). Below is a quick summary and thoughts.

On the first holiday themed episode, Mia and Rey hosted an event with Arturo and Abby, Lola and Kyle attending. Sharon stopped by as she was invited, but wasn't there the entire night. Arturo's present for Abby was a coat for a camping trip. Jack and Kerry made love for the first time, and Mia/Rey and Abby/Arturo were intimate. Nikki was still in the hospital, and we had guilt from Reed, along with Victoria/Billy and Nick/Sharon material.

The second holiday episode had Lola and Kyle giving gifts, he got her a purse, and she gave him a watch. Johnny and Katie were with their parents. Nick is still with his mother. We saw Nikki's fantasy and she and Victor are together. She's well, plays the piano and they dance.

The third had focused on Sharon's holiday party at Crimson Lights, turns into the cast singing outside the hospital, and Victor going to Nikki's bed while everyone was away from the room. Mariah wanted Sharon to treat Tessa better. Jack and Billy were first at their home, and then went to Crimson Lights (they are still getting along). There was more chatter at the hospital with Noah and Phyllis trying to be there for Nick.

The fourth episode had Mariah hosting GC Buzz, and giving the closest thing to a holiday speech. Jack and Dina chatting about the past, with a newly created flashback. The cousins trio of Devon, Ana, and Nate in the penthouse discussing the past, and Victor and Nikki flashbacks. Billy, Victoria, and the kids open presents.

While we saw Johnny and Katie (with Johnny in a snowman costume) the holidays weren't about kids this year. Nick's younger children weren't on camera, and it felt a bit scattered. I didn't hate it, but I think out of the four days the last was the one I liked the most.
