Y&R: Changes Coming Behind the Scenes

Today (December 18, 2018) news came out about "The Young and the Restless" below are my thoughts.

SoapHub first announced that Mal Young is out, and later in the day Daytime Confidential shared that Josh Griffith and Tony Morina are in. Mal Young left his role as both head writer and executive producer, with Josh becoming head writer (again) and Tony in the role of executive producer (he's been with the show in production since 2004). Mal Young made a statement here. While Sony and CBS have yet to say anything officially.

My first feeling is we shall see what happens, and how much of what was going was down to Mal Young and how much was CBS's involvement at the show. Will some of the characters who were missing return is one question that many wait to be answered. So for some this is an early holiday present (depending on what one celebrates, but for others this may be the lump of coal they weren't looking for. It will be interesting to see either way.
