Y&R: February Fiascos

The month of February 2015 was rife with disaster in Genoa City. Below I go into detail about all the scandalous events.

The Underground went underground as the building collapsed into rubble. If Nick (Josh Morrow) had fixed the club more quickly or noticed the work was shoddy none of this would have happened. Austin (Matthew Atkinson) didn't tell him either, which upset Nick. Sadly, Derek the bartender passed away. Victor (Eric Braeden) saved Jack's (Peter Bergman) life though Jack is dealing with having no memories of having sex with Kelly (Cady McClain). Earlier that night Jack upset Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to try to help her case. It seems like Victor was involved with Jack's sex life, but we'll see what happens. Nick and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) discovered their mother fell off the wagon while waiting for news on Victor. Before the disaster, Joe (Scott Elrod) told Avery (Jessica Collins) of his plans to leave town.

Sharon (Sharon Case) tried to leave her home with Faith due to the storm. They didn't want to stay in a blackout. Dylan (Steve Burton) found the car, and drove them back to town, so Sharon could get the medical attention she needed. Later Dylan and his friend Stitch (Sean Carrigan) helped with the recovery efforts and gave Paul (Doug Davidson) support based on their time in war.

The penthouse, the penthouse was also on fire. Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Adam (Justin Hartley) became homeless, as did Billy (Burgess Jenkins) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Since the Abbotts have a mansion, Billy and Chelsea are going to stay there, and invited Sage and Adam. Billy became injured and Adam saved him along with baby Connor.

Another casualty of the storm was the private plane carrying Jill (Jess Walton) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) along with the extended Winters clan to Chicago. They got Chancellor back and the group was traveling together on business. Neil (Kristoff St. John) decided to get revenge on everyone for Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and Devon (Bryton James) having an affair behind his back. He admitted he wasn't blind and was drinking again. The only innocent one was Lily (Christel Khalil). She was devastated to hear what happened and is angry with her husband Cane for keeping a secret. Jill also had no idea, but benefited by Colin's (Tristan Rogers) blackmail to get the company. The only person who didn't survive was the pilot. Neil was able to get help, and everyone was brought to the hospital. This caused a mess in all the relationships except for Colin and Jill.

At the Abbott cabin, Abby (Melissa Ordway) had a party for Valentine's Day. Summer (Hunter King), Austin, Kevin (Greg Rikkart), Noah (Robert Adamson), Mariah (Camryn Grimes), Fen (Max Ehrich), Courtney (Kelli Goss) were all invited. Fen drugged the punch making everyone pass out, and Austin was found dead. Via flashback, we found out that Abby and Austin had more of a friendship than anyone knew. Kyle (Lachlan Buchanan) also returned to town acting a bit sketchy. The group all were lying to the police about what had happened.

Those were the highlights of "The Young and the Restless" in February. The show felt very different than anytime in the past. Y&R isn't known as a disaster plot show, so it was a bit jarring. I can see if people who don't keep up with the comings and goings behind the scenes would have been confused as usually the pace of Y&R is more mellow.
