Y&R: The Anniversary of Delia's Death

Today "The Young & the Restless" honored the late Delia Abbott. The remembrance of a girl who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in 2013 was the main focus of the episode. Below I share my thoughts.

Delia was remembered today with visits to the place she died. Off screen, Billy (Burgess Jenkins) and Victoria (Amelia Henlie) went to Delia's former school to see her former classmates. Victoria also shared an essay that Delia wrote about her life, that the teacher had forgotten to give them. Later in the show, Victoria apologized to Kelly (Cady McClain) over the issues they had due to Billy. Victoria felt that she should try to get along with Kelly may be family to her child. She also spoke to Stitch (Sean Carrigan), but no decisions were made for Victoria's long term romantic future.

Jill (Jess Walton) and Esther (Kate Linder) spent time together mourning their shared granddaughter. Esther was being sentimental and Jill went too far with her comments. Later Jill and Esther joined the Abbotts (Jack, Abby, Ashley and Traci) to mourn together. Everyone found out that Ashley (Eileen Davidson) was back in Genoa City for good. Jack (Peter Bergman) was still torn between his relationships. Abby (Melissa Ordway) was the only Newman present though she is also an Abbott. Traci (Beth Maitland) mentioned her late daughter as she could completely relate to Billy's loss. Jill and Jack mentioned how Victor and Nikki donated more money to charity in honor of Delia. The charity was funding a theater, as Delia wished to be an actress some day. Billy spent some time with his family, but also went alone to the accident site.

During the episode, Billy also saw little Delia as she spoke to him. They discussed Halloween and how he needs to plan his costume. All she wanted to be for the holiday was his little girl. Later Billy is joined by Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). She had planned to leave Billy alone for the day to mourn, but stopped by to see if the flowers had arrived. The situation was awkward for a short bit, but they admitted their feelings for one another.

Due to Delia's death, her mother Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) came back for a visit. She avoided everyone, but ran into her former husband Kevin (Greg Rikkart). They spoke about their relationship, which she considered finished. She just didn't return his love in the way he deserved it to be. While by herself, we are shown that Chloe is pregnant again. It is uncertain if this was due to her stealing sperm from Billy or from another source.

A stranger was at the accident site, but we couldn't identify them. Obviously most will surmise it was the not-so-dead Adam Newman.

Those were the highlights of the US episode that aired on October 14, 2014.
