Soap Stars in Other Places: Wheel of Fortune 2006

Soap stars week in 2006 paired soap celebrities playing for charity with regular contestants. This advertised not only the soaps, but SoapNet.

Unfortunately not all of the episodes from the week are available online and those that are available are edited in some cases. (I have the week on DVD in my collection as I had a working TiVo with a DVD burner at that time, but I'm not sure of their location.)  Actors from The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, Guiding Light, One Life to Live, Passions and The Young and the Restless competed. The episodes online include actors from all the shows listed above except OLTL.

Susan Flannery (Stephanie, The Bold & the Beautiful) was playing for Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Peter Bergman (Jack, The Young and the Restless) was playing for Gabriella Axelrod Educational Foundation for dance training for inner-city kids and Deidre Hall (Marlena, Days of Our Lives) was playing for Mariposa Middle School. The regular contestants were Ross with Susan, Deborah with Peter and Allen with Deidre. Susan and Ross won $10,250, Peter was given $10,000 for his charity, but Deborah only won $2,500. Due to their win in the final round, Deidre and Allen got to play the bonus round. In the game, they won $22,250. This included money and prizes for Allen, but Deidre was given just the dollar amount. Deidre figured out the puzzle and they won a Porsche Boxter worth $51,035 making their entire winning total of $73,285. (This episode included a short clip of host Pat Sajak on Days of Our Lives from the 1980s.)

Another episode posted in two parts featured Alison Sweeney (Sami, Days of Our Lives), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young & the Restless), and Corbin Bernsen (John, General Hospital). Ali played with Jamie, and for a California Highway Patrol charity, Michelle played with Tracey and a charity about mental help abuses. Corbin played with Letitia and for a UCLA charity for rape victims. After the game was a tie, Michelle and Corbin were tied at the end with $9,400 so there was another toss up, that Corbin and Letitia won. Ali and Jamie got $8,100. The celebrities each got $10,000 for their charity like the rest of the week. Unfortunately Corbin and Letitia didn't get the last puzzle, so no additional money was won, but the only reason they got to the final round was Michelle's error, though there is nothing that can be done about that.

This was posted in two parts, by an Alison Sweeney fan here are: Part 1 and  Part 2

Unfortunately there are only highlights of the episode of when Galen Gering (Luis on Passions), Rebecca Herbst (Liz on General Hospital) and Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus on Guiding Light) were on Wheel of Fortune. Rebecca's charity was for kids with cleft pallet. Ricky Paull's charity was for suicide prevention, Galen's charity was playing for two different charities. Galen was playing with Kristin, Ricky was playing with Sunny who watched GL for 26 years as of the taping, and Rebecca was playing with Darcy. One puzzle amusingly (Before and After) was Evil Twin Beds. This game was marred with many bankrupts. Galen got $12,000 in the final round, $9,681 for Rebecca's team which was rounded up to $10,000, $26,050 for Ricky's team. Since this was an edit by a Galen fan, I don't know if Ricky and Sunny got the bonus puzzle. This game was marred with many bankrupts.

If you have a free hour or so, like soaps and game shows, you may want to check out these episodes from 2006. I'm  glad that more than one episode is available to view, so one can see a variety of stars from daytime television.
