Y&R: Phyllis's Departure

Last week marked the final episodes of Michelle Stafford playing Phyllis Summers on "The Young & the Restless". The character left town for treatment as she was comatose.

Phyllis overheard Sharon (Sharon Case) admitting to changing Summer's (Hunter King) paternity test. During their confrontation in a stairwell, Phyllis fell and was rushed to the hospital. For a short time, Phyllis woke up and tried to communicate to Jack (Peter Bergman), but he couldn't figure out what she was implying. Nick (Josh Morrow) was Summer's father after all, but no one else knows this truth other than Sharon who so far as kept quiet. Unfortunately her condition worsened, and we don't know if the character will ever wake up from her head injury.

Summer and her older brother Daniel (Michael Graziadei who visited for a episodes) decided that it would be best for her to be at a treatment center closer to his home. Avery (Jessica Collins) and Jack wanted Phyllis in town, but once Summer agreed with Daniel they stopped fighting. I appreciated his inclusion in the story as Daniel was on canvas for many years. He also was allowed to be critical of Nick for his actions, and sounded like much of the audience.

I wish Michelle Stafford luck in her future endeavors. While it is possible that Y&R may recast the role of Phyllis I hope they wait some time to do so.
