AMC: Thoughts on Episodes 39 & 40

Here are my thoughts and a brief summary about episodes 39 & 40 (August 19, 2013) of All My Children.

Note: I number these without the "More episodes" included in the count. On Hulu, these are episodes 55 & 56.

Episode 39:

David brought Oliver and his grandmother to the hospital as the boy had a seizure. To calm the boy, he tells Oliver to be like his favorite superhero.

Dimitri was able to convince Mitch Morrison to stay onboard with Chandler media, by using his ties to Budapest. Brooke is surprised that she won the necklace at the auction as she didn't bid on it. Dimitri wants to have a nightcap, while Brooke wants to go to sleep. Brooke realized that Dimitri paid for the jewelry after Adam denied it in a text. JR sees Brooke and Dimitri share a kiss, but she isn't interested in him.

Dixie and Anders are by the bench. She allows him to stay, and starts talking about wishing on stars with Tad. Dixie wants Tad to be there to help her with JR. Anders gets a call from the hospital, so he could avoid answering the question about the woman on his phone.

Heather and Celia are back at Bramwell Hall. They are recap the party, and what happened with Celia and Colby. Celia is worried that going out again with Pete may be a mistake. Heather then mentions kissing AJ, but is completely oblivious about Miranda's feelings for him. Celia has a nightmare about a man again.

Colby and JR talk about their father Adam. She is upset over how Adam came to town and didn't even say hello to her. After seeing Brooke, JR and AJ start to argue in AJ's room. AJ finds the syringe, and realizes his father uses steroids even after he said don't do that. JR just wants a chance, but AJ won't have it. AJ feels like his Dad is out of Chandler for good, after this stunt.

Cara comes in and sees Oliver on the stretcher. Carmen pulls her away before David sees her. The boy won't let David leave his side, as Anders starts asking for tests. David tells Oliver that he can have ice cream soon. Dixie and Cara interact, though Dixie has no idea the real reason Cara is in the hospital. Oliver had a peanut drop, before he got sick. Anders mentions an epi-pen, which Carmen doesn't understand, so David begins to speak in Spanish. They all walk away, and Cara sneaks in to see Oliver. David and Carmen return, after Cara left the room.

There is a montage: Celia is in her room, Anders is looking at his phone, and Dixie's sees him, Cara watches Oliver and David playing,  Colby is crying, Brooke looks at a photo of Adam, Dimitri sees Brooke, AJ is in his room with the baseball from his father, JR is outside and rumples the note from Adam to Brooke.

General thoughts about the episode:

Colby wanting negative attention instead of no attention from Adam explains a lot about her behavior. Cara had a lot of near misses at the hospital, which was soapy. Heather and Celia interacting after the party was good, if only because they are friends who didn't seek each other out that night.

Episode 40:

Pete and Jane are talking about the date he has planned for Celia. Opal has visions again looking at the phone of Celia's past. Celia starts telling Dixie about her visions. Colby overhears their conversation as Dixie promises to help Celia. Jane and Opal talk about Pete, as Colby comes in again. She orders, and then joins Opal. Colby wants to team up with Opal to destroy Celia and Pete's dream date and does so successfully. Dixie offers to give additional therapy to Celia. She can't afford to pay, but due to the donations to the Miranda Center, Dixie tells her, she can go for free. Celia comes back to Bramwell Hall, and tells Evelyn a lie about where she was. Evelyn is on the phone, after Celia goes away with an unknown person.

Oliver had a nightmare, and David came into the room with a toy. He's sad and wants his Mother. Joe sees this and stops Cara from going into the room. Cara feels conflicted about lying to David, though Joe says if she decides to tell David about the boy, she cannot take it back at a later date.

Early in the episode, JR and Colby are together and Colby is still going off on Brooke and their father. JR says he lost five years of his life and won't lose anymore of it. Brooke goes to speak to JR about the reel. He feels like it was sabotage. Dimitri comes in, and JR starts to throw vague allegations.

Cara, Joe, Carmen and David speak, and David doesn't realize that Carmen is Cara's mother. Joe shares the news with Cara that someone made a scrip for steroids. JR goes to see Cara at the hospital, and she's upset with him. Cara tells him, she knows he is using steroids. Later, JR tells Cara that he is still keeping her secret about Oliver, so she cannot say anything about the steroids.

David shares the great news with Pete that some major investors for Chandler, may not go to Cortech. Dimitri is holding a phone, and Brooke comes in telling him she cannot accept the necklace. They also discuss the issue with the investors possibly giving their money with Pete and David.

General thoughts about the episode:

Joe provided good support to Cara and didn't try to convince her either way regarding Oliver and David. Glad that Dixie followed up with Celia. Opal and Colby teaming up reminds me of the cliche: the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
