Thoughts about "The Doctors" - September 1976

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of September 1976.

Due to Scott's death, Jerry seemingly lost that job. Nola got Lew/Luke a job as a bartender at Andre's and Sara wasn't working. Virginia continued working for Mona.

The Powers family took Billy into their home. He was taking Mike's former place above the garage. MJ convinced Billy to visit Steve and the kids, to get some more of his things. The family played Chinese Checkers together, and they were so glad to see Billy. When Steve was at the Powers house, he found out that Billy made the varsity football team. Billy decided he could make money developing film, once his dark room was set-up.

Matt was in trouble, and the board met twice about his situation. They decided to give him a paid leave, he decided to quit, as he wanted to be exonerated by the grand jury. Maggie was to continue working, as it wouldn't look good if a lot of people left the hospital protesting Matt's situation. Paul's plan to get Matt out was successful, though Stacy was wavering, and feared Jason would figure everything out. Paul wanted to convince everyone that Matt should get another lawyer, but failed. Althea wanted to help Matt and Maggie, and Penny stayed on as a secretary at the hospital, as she would have to help Matt's replacement.

Mike was worried about his father being in trouble with the law, as everything pointed to Matt being the guilty party.  Unfortunately for Toni, she got a call that her mother was in a serious car accident in California. Barbara had asked for her, and it was likely her mother would pass away. Toni was surprised she cared this much about her mother considering how badly they had left their relationship. Martha was willing to take care of Michael Paul, and Matt who had just resigned from the hospital had the time to look after his grandson too.

Jason was called, but not on screen. He eventually sent a telegram stating he'd be in Madison the next day, as the month ended. Earlier that day, Ann gave presents to both Erich (a model) and Steffy (a doll), who appreciated them. We also found out that Chinese Checkers is the kids favorite game to play together.

Those were the highlights of September 1976, and there was one missing episode September 24. Jennifer Houlton was back as Greta, which was a good thing. We also got our first scenes with Jada Rowland as Carolee, though she was mainly mute. Steve telling Ann, who he's known since being a teen about Jason was a bit weird. She should know about Jason being close to the family. That said stating that Jason was Mona's favorite made me laugh as that had to be a joke or they haven't been seeing the same relationship between Steve and Mona that I have been over these hundreds of episodes.
