The second episode of Inside Salem premiered this week. Below are my thoughts.
The second episode had two portions like the first. The beginning was an interview with Stacy Haiduk (Kristen/Susan), with Michael Fairman. The second part was a tribute to the late Peggy McCay (Caroline Brady) and a bit of discussion about the late Frank Parker (Shawn Brady).
The Stacy Haiduk interview mainly discussed how she got the roles on Days. She didn't have to audition, she was offered the parts, based on her past acting experience. At the time, she was in NY visiting her daughter, and came back to LA specifically for this job. Stacy talked about how she and Eileen Davidson had discussed Kristen/Susan when both were on "The Young and the Restless", as Stacy was playing a dual role on that show. Stacy also spoke about her feelings about the people she acted with on Days. One of the scenes of the week, was one with Stacy and Ali Sweeney.
The second part had Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), and Freddie Smith (Sonny) talking about Peggy McCay and Frank Parker. They spoke about what it was like to work with Peggy and how she was always on, in the part. A clip from the Sonny/Will wedding was played as that was one of Peggy's last significant speeches on the program. Since Mary Beth played one of the Brady children, she had worked in many scenes with them over the years. The tweet from Peter Reckell about Peggy was shared, and it was stated how that was very accurate. Suzanne spoke about how she was invited to speak at Frank's memorial, but decided against it. She was the one person from Days who attended, and represented the show. Freddie never worked with Frank, so he couldn't add anything to that part of the discussion.
I enjoyed the second episode, though I wish it had been themed more closely with the season it premiered.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
