GH: Sonny What If Episode

On November 12, 2018, General Hospital did a "What if" episode about Sonny (Maurice Benard), below are my thoughts on this episode with a quick summary.

Sonny decided not to shoot Vincent Marino, and his life was completely different. Sonny and Olivia were married and still living in Brooklyn. Sonny was working as a police sergeant. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna who was visiting just for this episode) was in the mob in Port Charles. He was married to Sam, but they weren't happy. The main crime family in PC was led by Julian and Ava. Ava and Jason were together. Alexis was the DA, and Anna the police commissioner. Anna didn't care about catching the bad guys, as her daughter Robin passed away from AIDS in the 90s. Carly and AJ (who was unseen) were married, and Michael left PC, so he wouldn't get caught up in mob violence. The episode ended with Sonny shooting Dante, as Dante was trying to take over the PC mob, giving evidence against the Jeromes.

This episode was interesting, though I think if you didn't care for Sonny, you would be bored by it. Due to it being his 25th anniversary year, I can see why GH did such an episode. It wasn't really done in an outrageous manner even though it was a dream.  I was glad to see Dominic Zamprogna visit for this episode, as I've missed him though glad he has had work elsewhere. I appreciated the photos on the mantle of Sonny and Olivia's home, as they were of real life children of the actors', which was fun, as well as seeing young Sonny played by one of Maurice's own children.
