Thoughts about "The Doctors" - August 1976

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of August 1976.

Most of the month was about the aftermath of Joan Dancy's plug being pulled. The other two Dancy siblings arrived for the funeral: Lew/Luke and Sara. Lew was not a good guy, and basically spent his life trying to get money without working hard like their missing father. Sara was in the Peace Corps, so she had no money. Nola brought 2,000 for the family, and Virginia wanted to spend $1,500 on the funeral. Nola would have rather spent it on other things so her mother could relax. Nola continued to work at Andre's, while Jerry continued with his two jobs.

Paul continued to manipulate a weak Stacy, though she seems not be using as much speed. She wanted to leave town before testifying, but got through it. Of course, this has made Matt look more guilty. Steve called Jason (now a famous attorney instead of a doctor) to leave Europe to help defend Matt if he is charged. Mike was upset finding out that Matt had the only clean fingerprints on Joan's machines. Maggie stuck by both Matt, and Althea.,

Billy refused to move into Mona's home, and started to couch surf. He went to Toni first, but that was awkward as Martha owns the place and there is no space. Billy woke up from noise, hearing Mike and Toni speak, and then left. He stayed at Greta's, but hit from her family. He later went to the Y, as MJ discovered his location, by using the name Billy Simpson. MJ told Billy that he would be welcome to sleep on the couch in the apartment, she shares with Penny. Then it was suggested, perhaps Billy could move into Mike's old place at the Powers. Steve liked that idea, and we found out that he put ads in newspapers to find Carolee, but made no progress.

Eleanor went to the hospital for mental health care, due to Scott accusing her of poisoning. He eventually was better and went home, while Eleanor remained. Kevin was on Eleanor's side as her doctor. Althea missed Nick, but went to work and was glad to see. Scott was still interested, but Althea was not. Scott was upset hearing about Nick and Althea, and threatened her. He went to choke her with the infamous pearls. Scott left a suicide note with Wendy, got drunk, and drove over a cliff of some sort. Althea was working and found out that he was dead. Once all of this came out, Eleanor was freed and could return to her life

Those were the highlights of August 1976, and there were no missing episodes of pre-emptions. It was weird having another Greta. It is nice that they stated that Billy is now 17, though shouldn't he get a job to help pay for his expenses if he is no longer living with Steve. Scott dying didn't upset me, though having him intentionally hurt himself via car was a surprise.
