Primetime TV Update - October 2016

Here's a quick description of all of the shows I've watched and completed in October 2016. Of course, as always, there is a possibility of spoilers for any prime time show I mention.

This October, I was able to catch up with some shows on Showtime and Starz and they made up the bulk of my viewing. Otherwise I finished two non-American shows.

On BBCAmerica, I viewed "The Living and the Dead". The six-episode series, which only ran for one year in the UK aired on Thursday before Halloween starred Colin Morgan and Charlotte Spencer. This was a fantasy program taking place in Victorian England, which involved ghosts haunting a small farming community. It was in the horror genre, but not popular enough in its home country to continue. I found it interesting for what it was.

On Showtime, I viewed "Homeland" season five and the final season of "House of Lies". Homeland took place in Germany and filmed there, which was appreciated. This season was about a spy within the CIA and Carrie (Claire Danes) who was brought back into that world. House of Lies wrapped up with a story with the main characters in Cuba and Marty (Don Cheadle) and Jeannie (Kristen Bell) were wed, while Clyde (Ben Schwartz) and Doug (Josh Lawson) were both made partners in Marty's firm.

On Starz, I viewed "The Girlfriend Experience", "Outlander" season two, and "Power" season three. The Girlfriend Experience is supposed to be coming back for a second year, but with a new cast and story. The first year was about a woman (Riley Keough) who was a law student, who become a whore and decides she likes that profession. The second season of Outlander was about Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) living in France before the Jacobite War, and the actual battle. Before the fight was over, Claire went back into the stone to return to the 20th Century to save her pregnancy. We also met Claire and Jamie's daughter as an adult, and her finding out the truth of her mother's unbelievable life. Power, season three, saw the end of two romantic relationships: one in death and the other in deceit. Now that the deck of characters has been shuffled, we'll see if Ghost and Tommy will remain allies or turn on each other yet again.

On SundanceTV, I viewed "Gomorrah", which is a 12-part shown in 6 story in Italian with subtitles. This was difficult to watch not just due to the language barrier, but the content as it was about the mafia. It had a large body count, so anyone could and would die in a horrid way including young people.

So that's what I've watched and finished during October 2016. Happy Viewing!
