Thoughts on "The Doctors" - March 1968

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of March 1968.

Althea and Nick are orbiting one another, and are getting along better. For most of the month they were on the sidelines. Nick is getting a new assistant at the lab, Dr. Stark, who is African-American and had been a medic in war. Althea had a patient come into the clinic that didn't want treatment, and Althea wasn't sure how to respond. Nathan Bunker had the surgery that Matt and Nick recommended. He got out of the hospital, and is on the road to recovery, but it may be threatened.

Liz and Steve are dating behind everyone's back, for numerous reasons including Liz's personal issues and Carolee. Hopefully Carolee finds out what Steve is up to soon, or else Liz wises up and runs far away from Steve as he taking advantage of her like Nick did.

Karen tried again to get an oblivious Matt. She used her father's death to her advantage to get him closer to her. She decided to visit Germany for his funeral. One night, Karen and Matt spent together alone, but nothing happened as Matt is a good man. Maggie was upset what Matt wasn't seeing and told Matt that Karen needs to go.

Polly passed away, saddening John. In death, Polly became a matchmaker for John and her niece Bonnie. They are now on a world tour using the inheritance she gave them.

Danny was to be adopted, but married couple who wanted him backed out at the last minute upsetting him. Ruth and Bill were about to get their new baby, though instead they adopted Danny. In Ruth's mind, there may be other babies, but there is only one Danny. It looks like the majority of their story is completed.

Those are the highlights of the March 1968 episodes of "The Doctors". For part of the month, Bethel Leslie (Maggie) was off screen due to an illness and the role was temporarily recast. My favorite comedic moment was watching John and Bonnie fool around with Polly's old costumes. My favorite dramatic or emotional moment was when Ruth and Bill decided to keep Danny.
