Even though Alice Horton passed away after Frances Reid perished, the character is still part of story on Days of Our Lives. This entry talks about how the latest secret Alice kept and how it is impacting the program.
The first secret Alice kept that was discovered was that Daniel (Shawn Christian) was Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) son. While that was explosive, the one she held with Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo) was even stronger. Alice and Stefano shared a safe deposit box. Once Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) were able to get it open, a shocking document—a marriage certificate that stated Hope was married to John Black (Drake Hogestyn). Of course, the problem is John is married to Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Bo and Hope are wed. Does this mean we’ll have yet another wedding for both of the couples. And now Ciara (Lauren Boles) the youngest of Hope and Bo’s children is illegitimate, as they weren’t legally married now due to this plot.
Unknowingly John and Hope have been bigamists for many years as neither remembers the marriage. I’m not sure what I think about that. Would Alice really keep that from her granddaughter? Marlena and John were family friends and this isn’t something you keep quiet. Perhaps there is a bigger secret than just the marriage that would be even more upsetting to everyone involved.
To divorce John and Hope have to go back to Alamania as they could not get an annulment as they had sex. Of course, at that time, both were brainwashed, hence the forgetting. Hope thought John could be the possible father to her and Bo’s late son Zach. Unfortunately Marlena and Bo could not go with them due to passport issues.
I’m uncertain what this story will lead to, which is good, but I am flummoxed over Alice’s silence. Yes I know it is a retroactive continuity, though I wonder if it will be worth it. That’s something that we will have to see in the coming weeks on Days of Our Lives.
