B&B: Liam Chooses Hope

On the Bold and the Beautiful, Liam (Scott Clifton) chose to end his marriage with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) to be with Hope (Kim Matula).

On Friday, February 3, 2012, Liam told Steffy he chose Hope and gave his wedding ring back to her. Monday’s episode (Feb 6) had Liam showing Hope how he wanted to be with her. Steffy and Liam’s father Bill (Don Diamont), manipulated things so Liam would choose Steffy.

Even with all the lies and betrayals, Liam loves both women. He just felt that his path to Hope, had been derailed by both Steffy and Bill. The final straw was not even Steffy’s fault, but the damage had been done. She tricked Liam into marriage by keeping Hope from him, then during their vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, she lied that Hope was visiting the same resort. Once Liam found out Hope was there, he ran to her and Steffy got into an accident chasing them. Steffy was injured, and Bill paid off some medical personnel to fake an MRI showing that Steffy had a potentially deadly blood clot. Of course, Liam stayed with Steffy because he didn’t want to cause her death. Everyone including Steffy thought she may die, and that was awful. Bill’s wife Katie (Heather Tom) figured out what he did, and was locked in a tower. She escaped quickly and spoke her peace. It looks like both Bill and Liam may be getting divorces soon.

Hearing Katie’s comments, Liam ran to Forrester Creations, found Hope on the roof and reaffirmed his love for her. Eventually both Liam and Hope found out that Steffy was not at fault about the medical lie. Other than those directly involved, Bill’s actions have been kept quiet.

Before Liam made his choice on screen, there was a flashback montage to the song “Make You Feel My Love”, which has been covered many times. Bianca Moon performed the version that was used on B&B. Liam called both women over to his home, but spoke to Steffy first. After she left to go back to her mother Taylor’s (Hunter Tylo) home, Liam met Hope outside to tell her his plans. A thrilled Hope called her mother Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), while Ridge (Ronn Moss) was upset that Liam didn’t honor the marriage vows he made to his daughter and chose his stepdaughter. Ridge and Brooke do not know the whole story and perhaps points of view would be changed if they did.

Liam made his choice, but Steffy still feels she has a chance with him. She believes that eventually Liam will remember why his relationship with Hope was having problems and reunite with her. Hope at least knows enough to not repeat one mistake of the past, and wants to marry Liam right away. Her fashion line isn’t going to dictate when she gets married. Hopefully Liam can stick to one woman and not long for the other, as it isn’t fair to either woman as I doubt that Steffy and Hope would be willing to share Liam.
