Y&R: Likes & Yikes 2017

Below are my likes and yikes for "The Young and the Restless" for 2017, and other things of note on the program.

This year had more things that were mixed than anything else, so sorry. Some stories that had promise stalled, and others started poorly, but improved.

Likes/Yikes: Dina returns, but well she has Alzheimer's and it doesn't look like we will have her that long. At least, Traci was allowed in town to see her too.

Likes/Yikes: Women having stronger roles in business. Well it was nice, and then that ended. Due to incompetence by men, Victoria ended up being bailed out professional by her father. Lauren had to give up much of Fenmore due to financial problems and Jack now has a huge chunk of their business. Abby came up with a business plan, and the dating app, she helped fund was used as a cover for a sex ring.

Yikes: Cane gets drunk, and has sex with Juliet. She ends up pregnant, and then dies after giving birth. Since he blacked out, how could he have consented? If Cane was female, and Juliet was Jules, the conversation about what happened would have been completely different.

Likes: Kevin being Bella's father, why because for a change a woman actually had a child with someone she loved, and well having it be Billy, whose sperm she stole was icky. (Sorry Abby...) Due to Chloe faking her death, Kevin and Bella will have to spend the rest of their lives lying, but that's better than the alternative.

Likes: The write off story for Dylan was good, though it was a write off, and Sharon was allowed not to lose herself in his departure, which was even better.

Likes/Yikes: Well Nick going away from Victor, was a good thing. I don't like the entire Newman family accepting Victor's bad behavior. The yikes is everything else that happened in the story.

Yikes: GC Buzz being The Hilary Hour, the rebranding was confusing. Then it got worse with Hilary getting her intimate images being posted online as Jordan's revenge. This wasn't cool or funny, but it wasn't being played for the horror it actually is.

Likes/Yikes: So Y&R finally does a story with two women being involved or at least Mariah having feelings for Tessa. It stalls, and having Mariah with Devon before this happened, didn't make sense. Can't characters just live and work and take time to find love. That said if any soap did a triangle with two opposite sex siblings fighting over the same person, I would watch.

Yikes: So Scott is back, and twice he is held hostage for the sake of a story. The first in the middle east, brought him back to Genoa City, and the second was due to sex trafficking. Crystal (Tessa's sister) killed Zack, and well she is on the run as is Alice Johnson, who worked for that group.

Likes: JT returning not that the story made sense with the forensic investigation of Victor. Though having him in town, with Reed's issues made sense.

Yikes: Victor and Nikki reunite after he threatens her with prison time for her taking his money, after Victor stole from Nick. This felt like a reunion solely so they don't have to write story for either character, and that kind of bugs.

Likes: That Jack and Billy made up, though it isn't 100% perfect between them, at least they aren't threatening each other anymore.

So that's what I thought about most of the stories on Y&R in 2017.
