B&B: Nicole Signs the Papers

On "The Bold and the Beautiful", it was discovered that there was a problem with baby Lizzie's adoption. Below are my thoughts about this story and its resolution as of June 28, 2017.

Nicole (Reign Edwards) was devastated when she found out that perhaps she could never have another successful pregnancy. According to the doctors, (she got a second opinion), she had secondary infertility caused by having Lizzie for Rick (Jacob Young) and Maya (Karla Mosely). Initially Nicole was in denial, but later she told her husband Zende (Rome Flynn) the truth. He didn't want to believe it either.

Rick and Maya went to Paris for work, and left Lizzie in Los Angeles. Nicole became upset over how others were caring for the girl and that her sister and brother-in-law could go away for so many days without their daughter. She was able to convince everyone she should be her primary caretaker while they were away as the nanny was unable to go to Paris or stay with Lizzie. While the baby was with Nicole, she called her Mama, which made her even more torn.

The whole situation when crazy though when Julius (Obba Babatundé) heard the news and decided to use it against Maya. He felt that Nicole could and should take care of her biological child. Vivienne (Anna Maria Horsford) was upset over what was going on as she didn't want either of her daughters hurt, and felt angry with her husband.

Maya told Nicole if she had wanted custody that she wouldn't fight it as she would surely win, and wouldn't hurt her sister in court. Zende said regardless of them having a biological child or not, they would have a family. (Considering that Zende was adopted this was an appreciated attitude once he got over the shock of them perhaps not being able to have a genetically related child. Nicole realized that her sister and brother-in-law would do anything for their baby, and the papers were signed.

My biggest issue with this situation is Nicole and Zende are so young, and newly married. Why are they in a rush to have their own child? (Did Nicole even finish college, or was that completely forgotten?) Due to their circumstances and family, it wouldn't be impossible for them to find and pay a surrogate to carry a baby. Nicole's damage isn't to her ovaries, so they could have a biological child even if she couldn't go through an actual pregnancy. Plus there may be people within their extended friends and family who would be willing to go through this. The other part is adoption, as that is a viable choice that shouldn't be looked down upon. I want Nicole and Zende to have a story without any forays into pregnancy, which has been the majority of their material since they met. It shouldn't be that difficult, and I hope that this will come to pass and soon.
