Y&R: Hilary & Devon Wed & Now She's Thought Dead?

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and Devon (Bryton James) were wed in a happy ceremony at the Athletic club on "The Young and the Restless". The couple's potential joy was nearly ruined by the bride's former husband Neil (Kristoff St. John), who is always the groom's father. Below I share more thoughts on their nuptials and the honeymoon.

Since Hilary's mother is dead, she didn't have that much support at the wedding. The character didn't even have a bridal shower. Lauren (Tracey Bregman), who helped her with her gown, was the closest she has to a real friend. All Hilary has is her fiance Devon, as even though Hilary has a high powered job at Jabot as Jack's (Peter Bergman) assistant, she doesn't have people. (This is one thing I believe they need to fix with the character of Hilary as she seems so isolated even if she works with so many in Genoa City.) Lily (Christel Khalil) and Hilary get along better now, but Lily will always side with her brother over Hilary. Cane (Daniel Goddard) was there for Devon even though his marriage to Lily is on the rocks. During Devon's bachelor party, Devon was drugged by Cane's father Colin (Tristan Rogers) and believes he cheated on Hilary. He has no idea that Neil was behind this behavior. No one used this information to wreck the wedding, but Devon and Hilary weren't safe.

Once Devon and Hilary arrived at their hotel for their tropical paradise honeymoon, they made love on screen to music. (They had to hide Mishael's real life 3rd trimester body. Hopefully it wasn't too difficult a scene to film.) The couple was happy and went on an off screen helicopter ride. Hilary went alone to meet a guide, but ran into Neil instead. They argued and eventually she watched the incriminating video of Devon. The next thing we knew, Hilary didn't return to the hotel room, and Neil was no longer in paradise. Devon now is accused of having something to do with Hilary's disappearance as Mishael is on maternity leave.

Will Devon and Hilary's relationship turn into a variation of "Gone Girl" with Hilary deciding to turn the tables and destroy Devon? While Devon was guilty of spending time with another woman, he was drugged and couldn't consent to sex. The fact that Devon didn't have intercourse with that individual at least means that Devon wasn't a victim of rape. I can understand why Neil would want revenge on his former wife and his son, setting him up in this matter is beyond disgusting. (Remember Neil, Dru got pregnant with Lily due to being on cold medicine and sleeping with your brother by accident. Why on earth would you go there with your son?) You can destroy relationships without resorting to sexual blackmail. I figure with Mishael's maternity leave, this story will give Bryton something to do in the interim. That being said, I hope it gets all resolved before it lasts way too long. I hope Devon knows finds out what Neil did, and it finally tears the Winters family asunder.
