Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of June 1968.
Nick and Althea are getting closer, but their differences in opinion sometimes thwarted their progress. Penny still wants them together, which is a positive. Nick sides with Matt, while Althea is team Maggie when it comes to Matt and Maggie's marital problems.
Matt and Maggie's marriage is hitting the skids due to Karen. While stuck in the elevator together, Matt and Karen shared a kiss. Something about her lips must have triggered something in Matt, because now he seemingly feels something for Dr. Werner. Maggie knows that things are a mess and feels like their marriage is like London Bridge "falling down". Matt called for Karen in his sleep and now is enjoying the living room for his nightly rest. Karen realized she was pregnant, but was disappointed that Steve was the father.
Liz moved on with her life without Steve, and went out on an unsuccessful date with Carolee. She met a new person at the hospital named Jody. He was southern and unlike everyone else. She helped him with his algebra as he hoped to finish school and eventually get a medical degree.
Ed Stark's secret has been revealed. While in Vietnam, a woman reporter named Anna saved his life. She threw herself in front of an explosive device, which left her bedridden and paralyzed. He gets phone calls from her caregivers, and he goes to help her. Anna liked Ed, but he ignored her until this happened. Now Ed is devoted to Anna. Also it seems like Nick and Ed actually like one another after they spent some time together in a bar.
Those are the highlights of June 1968 of "The Doctors". It is interesting to see how the new characters interact with the people we know and love at Hope Memorial.
