AMC: Thoughts on Episodes 33 & 34

Here are my thoughts and a brief summary about episodes 33 & 34 (July 29, 2013) of All My Children.

Note: I number these without the "More episodes" included in the count. On Hulu, these are episodes 46 & 47.

Episode 33:

AJ rushes to play his online tournament, and JR had to let him through to his room. AJ comes in and finds Miranda recording her song. He apologizes for interrupting and the tournament has been forgotten as he wants her to go with him suit shopping for the gala. They are out again, and he wishes they could go back in town. Miranda wishes for a chocolate brownie from Jane's Addiction. Cara shows JR the newspaper headline about Jesse being arrested.

Zach brings Sullivan to help Jesse's case. Angie goes and hugs Jesse, he wants her to go back to Cassandra. Lea helped broker a deal for Jesse, which would keep him out of prison, but it is conditional on him resigning as chief of Pine Valley's police department. There is a flashback to Jesse and Angie celebrating his new job, and he leaves the office with his box of things.

Celia, Heather, Pete and Jane are at Jane's Addiction and his being auctioned off is mentioned. Pete and Celia continue discussing the terms of the auction alone. AJ and Miranda come in and make jokes about the auction. Heather comes back in, and Celia leaves to put up posters. Pete goes after Celia as she didn't bring any tape. He will give her the tape if she will give him one dance at the gala. Heather, AJ and Miranda talk about getting gala clothes. Heather comes up with the idea of getting vintage items, AJ is okay with that as long as the clothing isn't ugly. Zach appears and Miranda tells the others to go as she wants to spend some time with her uncle. This surprises Zach as it is the first time a girl decided to spend time with him forgoing spending money.

Cassandra and Colby are with Dr. Anders as Cassandra wants to have the abortion now. Colby throws her family's weight around to help Cassandra. With tears in her eyes, Cassandra signs the paperwork to have the surgery. Cassandra is wheeled away and Colby cries. JR comes to the hospital, and sees Colby. He wonders if his sister is sick, but she tells him it is Cassandra. Colby confides in her brother and says she has no idea what else can she do.

David goes up to Anders asking about Cassandra. Anders thinks that Angie has no idea about the surgery. Cara and David talk about the hospital about the Hubbards in general terms. Cara does admit that she did feel something for David. JR interrupts and ends this moment.

Angie is at the hospital with David, and he tells her about the abortion. Cassandra is back in her room, and Angie hugs her daughter. Debbi Morgan (Angie) introduced a PSA for www.love146.org.

General thoughts about the episode:

The legal part of Jesse's crimes was quickly swept under the rug. Other than no longer being on the police force, Jesse and Angie don't have to suffer. I hope Jesse becomes a private detective. Was that Colby's purse or a makeup bag when Cassandra was wheeled out of the room? JR and Colby acting like siblings was a nice change and they weren't snapping at each other.

Episode 34:

Celia asks Colby how to handle the auction items. They have to go to Bramwell as she forgot the seating cards. Colby thinks Celia's room is princess-like, but nice. Celia admits to not having parents, while Colby can't imagine that her childhood wasn't great either. Evelyn comes in to get a dress with Celia. Celia goes with Colby instead, and comes back with a sketch she shares with Evelyn. Yvette, the designer and Colby continue to discuss dresses.

Jane and Pete discuss the auction and how if he was with Celia, he wouldn't do it. Billy Clyde overhears the conversation and then introduces himself to Pete saying that he knew his father. Pete and Billy Clyde are outside sitting at a bench. Pete mentions how he is staying in Pine Valley and how Celia broke up with him. Billy Clyde and Pete stop talking as Pete needs to go on a conference call.

Cassandra calls herself trash and Angie says she loves her daughter. Dixie goes into Cassandra's room and Cassandra admits that she still feels dirty. Dixie gives Cassandra a necklace to make her feel better and wishes for everything to turn into gold. David and Jesse get into a fight over Angie. David is incredulous finding out that the charges against Jesse were dropped. David came over with a book about trauma. The argument escalates as David throws all of Jesse's history in his face. Jesse retaliates and mentions David's crimes. Once David mentions Cassandra's abortion, Mr. Hubbard runs out of the room to go to his step-daughter's side. Dixie tells Angie that Cassandra will be released from the hospital tomorrow. Jesse catches up with Angie and Angie says she thinks that Cassandra hates her. He admits to losing his job. Jesse comes to Cassandra and tells her that he wishes he could have been there for her. Dixie tells Angie that Cass is projecting her negative feelings of herself on her mother. Cass needs time, patience and love. Angie says she should be grateful that her daughter is alive, and her husband isn't going to jail, but she still wants to fix things.

Zach and Miranda are still talking, and he mentions the "trollop" Heather. She says that they are kind of dating as AJ is taking Heather to the gala. Zach tells Miranda he will go shopping with her. They found a dress, but still need her shoes. Lea comes up to Miranda and Zach, and Miranda leaves with her bags so they can speak privately. Zach tells her, she chose her job over Jesse. There is a scene jump and Lea sees Zach and Miranda in Jane's Addiction. Lea likes the hair clip that Zach found for Miranda. Miranda and Zach get back to the Chandlers. There is a note from AJ about going camping. Miranda and Zach discuss how Bianca should see the outfit. Before Zach goes, Miranda convinces him to come to the gala.

General thoughts about the episode:

David and Jesse's argument was bound to happen, though thankfully it happened in a private place. That said, I can't see Jesse leaving David in their home. Cassandra still not being well after the abortion was realistic. I wish we could have seen Miranda and Zach's shopping trip. Lea choosing her job over Jesse, who was a stranger to her shouldn't be a big deal to Zach. Zach is a friend to the Hubbards, but Lea is new to Pine Valley. This episode felt very edited due to how it flowed. Pete not knowing who Billy Clyde was surprising as he caused so much strife in his half-brother's life.
