AMC: Thoughts on Episodes 27 & 28

Here are my thoughts and a brief summary about episodes 27 & 28 (July 8, 2013) of All My Children.

Note: I number these without the "More episodes" included in the count. On Hulu, these are episodes 37 & 38.

Episode 27:

Dimitri, Brooke and Celia are discussing what happened with David's interview and how so many people were watching it. Colby walks in and suggests throwing a launch party for Talk Tempo. Brooke thinks this is a good idea and puts her in charge of the event. Dimitri takes Brooke's phone away from her, and says that he has to show her something. Celia and Colby are talking together about party ideas and then segue to Pete, which makes Celia uncomfortable. Brooke and Dimitri are in a restaurant and she wants to talk business, while he wants to relax. Dimitri and Brooke toast and she says they make a great team. She says goodnight before anything happens between them. Colby comes back to the Chandler Mansion, while Brooke is on the phone with Adam. Colby shares Celia's idea as her own for the party, which Brooke thinks is genius.

Lea and Zach are in Jane's Addiction and they are flirting. Miranda and Heather walk in with packages and talk to Jane about how successful they were. The girls decide to get one piece of cake and two giant forks. Miranda goes up to Zach and they talk about an artist they both like. He says if he needs her, she should call him as they have each other's back as he knows it is hard that her family isn't in town. Zach tries on Miranda's hat in front of Lea. He introduces Miranda and Lea. Miranda wants to go to a movie in black and white with Spanish subtitles and Zach offers to join her. Before leaving the coffee shop, Lea is amazed by Zach's paternal side. Lea and Zach start working on the case again regarding Uri. The charges against Zach have been dropped. He goes to lock the door and kisses her.

Miranda joins her friends (AJ, Heather, and Pete) in Jane's Addiction. AJ and Pete had met at a park bench chatted and then went to have coffee. Pete talks about his app about sports, and wants to show AJ as it is targeted for high school sports. When the group is at Jane's Addiction, Pete is still talking about the app, and they came up with some other ideas. Heather mentions to Pete how he broke her friend's heart and then walked away. Heather, Miranda and AJ talk about going to a movie. Miranda and AJ want to see the new Superman film in 3D. Heather seems disappointed that Miranda thought it was a date, but AJ says it wasn't.

Angie is at Cassandra's bedside and Dixie comes in the room. Dixie wants to talk to Cassandra alone, so Angie departs. Angie is in the hallway David walks by and they hug. Angie and David talk about Cassandra's pregnancy and also what she went through with Ellie. David tells her that she has to prepare herself for the possibility that Cassandra will get an abortion. Angie loves the child, because even due to what happened it is part of Cassandra. David says she will make the right decision as it would be based on love. Angie thanks him again for finding and saving Cassandra. They hug again as Jesse looks at them.

General thoughts about the episode:

I liked that Pete and AJ finally interacted as they are related. Colby stealing Celia's idea was to be expected. One of the problems with the lag in taping and the mess with the scheduling is that by now the latest Superman movie has been out for many weeks. By the time this episode airs on OWN, it may not even be out in theaters.

Episode 28:

Angie gets frustrated with Jesse over how he was unreachable by phone though he says it was police business. Jesse took it all out on David and listed his crimes. Zach and Lea are at the office though it doesn't look like they had sex. Later Jesse is surprised that Zach was cleared.  Vlad was the one who was killed not Uri. Jesse calls Uri and lets him know what happened. Vlad threatens Jesse and his family again. Jesse comes back to the hospital and let's Angie know that Vlad is still alive. He now has a guard on Cassandra 24 hours a day. Zach and Lea are now at the bench. He wants to look for Koslov, but she tells him that the man may never be found. Zach and Lea are back at the hotel rooms. Lea tells Zach that he wasn't ready to have sex with her as she is still wearing his wedding ring.

JR brought Oliver and Cara's mom Letitia to Pine Valley. Cara is amazed he would do this for her. Letitia would work as a cook at the mansion, but be called Carmen. Miranda is singing her "Parachute" song again and Brooke comes into AJ's room. Brooke is surprised that AJ isn't there, and Miranda explains how he went to the movies with Heather. Bianca and Miranda are on the phone with each other. Bianca won't be around for awhile, and we see why Bianca isn't coming back to Pine Valley: her sister Kendall. AJ fills Miranda in about the movie and Carmen.  AJ sees JR with Oliver and becomes jealous. Miranda explained to JR why AJ got upset. JR goes to see AJ and apologizes. JR gave AJ tickets to a Rolling Stones concert and a trip to NY. He thinks it will be a great start.  Miranda comes in and AJ shows her the tickets. Unfortunately AJ misses the signs that Miranda wanted the "Stones" shirt. Kendall and Bianca are talking about Miranda again and it is explained that Bianca is there because Kendall's having heart issues again. Bianca wonders if Kendall will tell Zach, but she says no.

General thoughts about the episode:

Angie sticking up for David made sense. I don't get how JR believes that Oliver will be able to stop calling Cara "mom". Using Kendall as a reason why Bianca won't be around as much is acceptable. I'd rather her be away for family then have her in town, but not seen. I like that Lea isn't just falling into bed with Zach and knows that he still loves Kendall.
