The Revolution is Cancelled

Today Deadline.com has a news about what is going on with ABC Daytime. The Revolution, which replaced One Life to Live is ended in July. It will be replaced with an afternoon version of Good Morning America.

The summer daytime schedule at ABC come July 9th is The Chew, GMA in the Afternoon (tentative title) and then General Hospital. Once September rolls around, Katie Couric's show Katie will start on September 10th in the 3 PM slot that GH inhabits. GH will have to move, but the article isn't saying if it will be on at 2 PM, though that is what is implied.

That said I am glad that General Hospital is continuing for the immediate future, but if the summer afternoon GMA does well, I fear for GH's safety. Since ABC owns their shows, in theory they can just cancel them. That's what happened with The Revolution, so it is not outside the realm of possibility.

So really, we lost OLTL for a show that got cancelled after four months. Really, ABC, really blanking really. ARGH so many people lost their jobs for nothing. Viewers who used to like presenters involved with The Revolution now loathe them. At least now if I have the misfortune of seeing an ad for that program I can think, at least it won't be on for much longer. OLTL going off the air also hurt the soap magazines and SoapNet. So guys, you really did make a bad decision.
