GH: The Paternity of Sam's Fetus

On today's General Hospital, the paternity of Sam McCall Morgan's (Kelly Monaco) is up for grabs again. It was just revealed that Franco (James Franco) is Jason Morgan's (Steve Burton) half-brother.

Sam decided the only way she could find out more about the infant video that Franco left was talking with Heather Webber (Robin Mattson, who is guest starring). Heather is in a psych ward, and while she isn't sane, she was Susan Moore's family. She was there when Susan gave birth, and she sold one of the twins to the nurse Betsy (Franco's mother). Heather kept this a secret for all these years, and none of the Quartermaine's had any idea about the second baby.

So let me get this straight, Franco is a Quartermaine and he's dead. So now, we can add yet another child of the late Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) has gone to the hereafter. This is crazy.

To add insult to injury, Sam has no idea whether or not Franco raped her, and now he may be the sperm donor to her child after all. I don't expect life in Port Charles to be smooth sailing, but unless someone is into chaos plotting or loathe Jason and Sam (Jasam) I don't get the appeal. Hopefully they will either SORAS the pregnancy so the baby is born or allow Sam to get another DNA test so the audience can find out the paternity of this child.

This is the kind of story I just don’t care for, and causes me to lose interest. Some people say soap operas should be fantasy, well this kind of plot tends to be a nightmare. Having it be a character that already lost a child like Sam, who thought she could never have any children again makes it more depressing. Perhaps that’s why they went there, as they are going for tragic. Children should be a blessing, but for some viewers and the characters themselves this may feel more like a curse.
