ATWT: Bonus New Year's Eve Episode

Soapclassics.com has a new bonus episode of As the World Turns posted. It is from December 30, 1999. Here is a summary and my thoughts on it, as this will only be up for a limited time.

Most of the episode took place at Underground. At the start, a fashion show with Carly's (Maura West) designs is shown as Ode to Joy played in the background. There are only three girls on the runway. Just about everyone in Oakdale is there to watch like Bob, Kim, Lisa, Susan, and Emily. Andy (Scott DeFreitas) and while he knows who Hope is, he has no idea that he is the father of Denise's (Cassandra Creech) child. Ben (Peter Parros) and Denise are happy together.

Georgia (Jamie Dudney) went missing and Eddie (Nathaniel Marston) tried to find her. Margo (Ellen Dolan) was in jail for killing Alec (Michael Woods). Georgia swore to Margo that Eddie didn't do it and was horrified for little Casey's sake. It was Georgia, who was the murderer and Margo figured it out, as did Tom (Scott Holmes) and John (Larry Bryggman). They found a dry cleaning bag at Lucinda's (Elizabeth Hubbard). Margo locked the cop into her jail cell right before Tom showed up with the news. At Alec's cabin, Georgia decided to take pills.

Later at the fashion show, Rhapsody in Blue plays…and more models come out, though not everyone was wearing blue. Other classical music is played and Camille (Lauren Martin Harkins) is wearing a white wedding dress. Later she and Isaac kiss. In some ways, the garb that Carly created reminds me of what she wears when she marries Jack in Montana years in the future. Jack is supportive of Carly… The fashion show was done for charity for the Police Athletic League. There were also references to the fashions appearing in Seventeen magazine.

While on the runway Abigail (Kristina Sisco) flirted with Chris (Paul Korver) and Jennifer (Kim Onsach) got upset as he is her cousin. Molly berated Chris due to their secret relationship. At the stroke of midnight, Molly spied her daughter kissing her secret boyfriend. Chris was a bad boy as he was involved with Molly and her teenaged daughter. Holden (Jon Hensley) and Lily (Martha Byrne) congratulate Katie (Teri Conn) on a job well done as does Henry (Trent Dawson). Katie seems to be interested in Holden at this time, but nothing comes of it at this juncture.

This episode had opening credits and closing credits. I thought it was interesting that they would post two free episodes from within a few weeks of each other. At least for those who weren't watching back in 1999, they were able to find out that Margo was not a murderer.
