On the Thursday, December 15, 2011 episode of The Young & The Restless, Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Sofia (Julia Pace Mitchell) were married in a small ceremony. Here are my thoughts on this episode.
This wedding was not based upon the love Neil feels for Sofia, but on his love for their son Moses. Sofia has fallen for Neil, but he is not aware of her feelings. At the church, Lily (Christel Khalil) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) were their attendants. We saw them remember their wedding during the vows brightly as they have reunited.
After the ceremony, Neil spoke by himself to the minister. Devon (Bryton) and Tucker (Stephen Nichols) showed up together as they had a business meeting. If Tucker had known the wedding was being held that afternoon, he would have postponed it. Neil had a conversation with Harmony/Yolanda (Debbi Morgan), instead of going back to the guests.
Sofia decided it was time to go home with baby Moses. Tucker took the two of them home. They discussed Sofia’s situation and how maybe she shouldn’t have married Neil.
Neil came home, and told Sofia that the wedding was uncomfortable for him due to the circumstances of why they got married. He did another set of vows just for her. These gave Sofia hope that in the future, they could have an actual romantic relationship.
Sofia and Neil didn’t need to get married for the “wrong” reasons, as Moses doesn’t care if his parents are wed. Also, Sofia and Neil both have wonderful careers and enough money to take care of him. Hopefully this marriage, doesn’t hurt all three characters in the future.
