Thoughts on Episode 2 of Dirty Soap

Here is my entry on the second episode of E's Dirty Soap.

On this episode of Dirty Soap, we got to see a lot more of General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms. Her brother Austin was going away to flight school for helicopter training. This was extremely upsetting to her as it was on the other side of the country and eventually it would put him in danger situations. Her brother’s live-in girlfriend Tiffini, her son Lyric (from a previous relationship) and their daughter Kennedy had to deal without him. Kirsten tried to be supportive, but it was hard for all of them. The best part was how Lyric said how he had good times with that man. That was adorable and kind of hilarious in the stressful time. Something like 1% of the country is military these days, so this kind of story needs to be told. Surprised it was on an E! reality show about soap people of all programs.

GH’s Kelly Monaco (Sam) had a lot less to do on this episode. She met with some girlfriends and they had a party. They discussed potential men that Kelly could date, and she agreed to see them if it could be arranged via publicists. She also interacted with Kirsten at the GH studio and gave her support about Austin.

Galen Gering (Rafe on Days of Our Lives) had to watch his sons Dillon and Jensen, while his wife Jenna was at a spa for her birthday. Dillon hit Jensen, and was sent to his room. Meanwhile, Jensen locked himself in his bedroom. Galen couldn’t get Jensen to unlock the door, so he used a ladder to get to the outside of the room. Thankfully he could open that door and get his younger son out, what was funny was that Dillon suggested that they call the fire department.

Days’ alumni Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) and her boyfriend Brandon Beemer (Owen on B&B) had to deal with Nadia’s family. Her mother Fary cannot stand Brandon, and doesn’t think he respects her daughter. She told Nadia it would be a knife to the heart if they would get married. Part of this reaction I think comes from the cultural issues as Nadia’s family is not “stereotypical” American as her mother is Persian and her late father was Scandinavian. Brandon and Fary went out to eat, and they spoke. He tried to make things better, but it seems like a long road for them to get along.

On the east coast, One Life to Live’s Farah Fath (Gigi) and John Paul Lavoisier (Rex) spent a bit of time in a dressing room talking to Josh Kelly (Cutter). JP had an issue where he inadvertently was flashing people as his pants had a hole and his privates were showing. Thankfully Farah noticed before we had the latest soap opera scandal. Then at home, they were awaiting his mother’s visit. JP’s mom Bambi and her best friend drove up the turnpike to stay with them for OLTL fan club weekend. Farah and Bambi have issues, and JP loves his mama. At the fan luncheon, we saw a major fan of Farah’s named Bianca that has followed her for years and she was upset finding out that this may be the last event she ever does. After the fan event, they talked about getting married again, but JP is still non-committal about the situation.

Those are my thoughts and summary on the second episode of Dirty Soap. It was odd as I laughed my head off about Jensen being locked in the room, but was moved in the other direction over Austin. I didn’t expect any of that watching this program, so I was pleasantly surprised.
