OLTL: The Newest Set of Twins (Todd & Victor)

During the month of August, it was revealed that the Todd Manning (as played by Trevor St. John) we’ve known for the last eight years was really Victor Lord Jr. and the actual Todd Manning was last seen when Roger Howarth played the part. This story had a lot of shocks so far and here are some of the highlights.

Todd now known as Victor had been shot and nearly killed. Only Tea’s bother Tomas kept him from being murdered. We started seeing a guy with a scar that had Todd Manning’s old face being held at a facility. Unfortunately he did not cross paths with Marty as she departed town. The man with Todd’s face was being tortured and repeated phrases about his life in Llanview like “I have a daughter her name is Starr.” These comments were in rhythm, which was mocked by some on-line for its oddness.

Todd and Victor came face to face after Todd took Sam. Todd knocked a guy over and took his Spiderman costume for Sam’s birthday party. Then Todd took Sam with him. Sam and Todd got to know each other a little bit as they met out by the pool at La Boulet. One day, a guy came to kill Todd, and Sam witnessed it, Todd kept Sam safe and killed the assailant. When Sam talked about his friend (the man with his scar) everyone except Starr and Tomas's son Baz thought Sam created an imaginary friend.

It was revealed that the person behind all of this was Irene Manning, who had been presumed dead for decades. She had been working for the CIA and then went rogue. As Viki’s former best friend, she had slept with Viki’s father Victor, and had gotten pregnant on two occasions. The first time producing Tina, then later the twin boys that no one knew were twins until now. Irene came back from the dead, and had wrecked havoc. Baby Todd she gave to be raised by Peter Manning, while she took care of little Victor. Victor was special, and needed more help than Todd. Eventually Irene wanted both of her boys to get what they deserved financially from Victor, so when Tomas gave Todd to Irene, she swapped the boys. She brainwashed Victor into believing he was Todd, and kept Todd at a facility. Irene even gave Victor the “Todd scar”, but changed her mind and gave him plastic surgery to resemble Walker Lawrence to give him time to acclimate.

So for over five years, Victor was in Llanview as Todd Manning having no idea that he was living the life of his twin. He’d been married to and loved both of Todd’s former wives (Blair and Tea). Victor was the only father Jack knows, while Starr accepted Victor as Todd though at times she felt he was acting out of character. I doubt Starr would guess he was replaced by his twin, though when she found out they had matching DNA that was her first guess, while Jack made a comment about a woman in Springfield being cloned.

This situation split the Mannings in two with Tea, Jack and Dani on Victor’s side and Blair, Jessica, and Viki on Todd’s side. Starr is stuck in the middle, but tends to be more on Todd’s side as she remembered what it felt like to be with her Dad. She cares for Victor still, but was the one who told Tea, Dani and Jack that he was Victor. After finding out this news, Tea stood by her husband’s side, as she loves him. He was there for her when she felt she was dying and they were a committed couple.

Todd and Victor continued to clash over their lives. Todd wanted his business back and his standing in the community. Victor wanted to keep what he had grown. The kids were another issue, though due to their ages they could decide, whom they feel closer to as a parent. Eventually a shot rang out and Victor was on the floor of his home bleeding. Tea found him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

With Victor now shot (and “dead”), I put that in quotes due to how this story has gone that it may be reversed when Prospect Park takes over the show in 2012. A lot of people had reason to kill Victor from Todd to people in Irene’s world to Brody who knew Victor could destroy his life. Hopefully the mystery will make sense and the culprit is discovered. I hope whomever it is, isn’t a teen, as the last two people killed (other than the agent trying to kill Todd) were underage.
