Y&R: J.T. and Mac Get Married

On Friday’s US episode of The Young and the Restless, J.T. and Mac got married and left town with his son Reed. Unfortunately all of this was rushed to get the characters out of Genoa City.

Mac got a great job offer in Washington D.C. at a non-profit and wanted to take it. Nearly losing J.T. or as Katherine calls him Jeffrey Todd in the tornado gave her the courage to except his marriage proposal. Sadly J.T.’s dream of being a police officer was off the table due to the heart damage he sustained during the storm. Mac was relieved, by this news and hoped for a wonderful future with him. When Mackenzie told her grandmother Kay, about her new position and her engagement, Kay was thrilled for her granddaughter. She was able to get a marriage license for the duo and the ceremony was held in the Chancellor Mansion. Mac of course will keep in touch, and hopes for the health of Kay’s current husband Murphy who is in assisted living at the moment.

The wedding ceremony had few guests, but since it was so short notice it was understandable. Lily was the matron of honor and Paul was the best man. Reed was the ring bearer. As a surprise for the couple, Kay called Mac’s father Brock and he made time to visit Genoa City to perform the ceremony. Other than Kay, Esther, Kevin, Chloe, Billy and Victoria watched the vows.

The person who was most unhappy with this turn of events was Victoria. While she had no problem with J.T. and Mac getting married, leaving Wisconsin with Reed gutted her. It is one thing to live in the same town as your child and not have custody, but another situation when he lives hundreds of miles away. As Victoria recently miscarried, this was too much for her including hearing about Mac’s pregnancy. While she started to get along with J.T. again, this was not something she will ever forget.

Seeing Victoria say goodbye to Reed before he left with Mac and J.T. was actually a sad moment. The idea of having ones child taken to another faraway place is just awful. Of course, even if Victoria is upset now, I figure in a few months or less Victoria will forget all about Reed. That’s is the way soap operas tend to be as kids usually disappear until they are old enough to be teenagers, get in trouble and fall in love. The thing that I wish had remembered is that these people are not exactly poor. Like Kay wouldn’t want to visit her great-grandson or have a plane sent to DC to bring him back to Genoa City.

It was nice knowing you Mac and J.T. I won’t be surprised if you return to Genoa City in the future. Whether or not they will be a couple or with the upcoming child is a mystery. I do hope even though the characters are no longer on the program, Y&R gives us an update on Mac’s pregnancy. I think when the new child is born it should be announced on camera if only for continuity’s sake as the future of the Chancellors.
