Are All My Children’s Brot and Natalia finally headed for a romance? When I say finally, I mean it as this relationship was teased last autumn. That’s a long time to play with a potential couple without either finding another love interest.
Brot and Natalia spend a lot of time together due to their shared profession. Both are police officers for the Pine Valley Police Department. Natalia worked hard and has become a detective, while Brot is still learning though he is a natural due to his time in the military.
This past week, her father Jesse had a chat with her about how she is married to her job. While he appreciates that as the police chief, as her father he wants her to be happy. The fact that Brot or Natalia would have to leave the local police force if they start dating is something Jesse stated was the one good thing about them not dating, as he would lose one of his best.
I think part of the hesitation on both of their parts goes back to their pasts. Natalia grew up with a father who loved her, but had another family. How easy is it to trust a man when your own father is living a life on the run after his death was faked. With Brot, he was seriously burned in war. He faked his death and allowed his loved ones to believe he was gone instead of facing them. So both of them had baggage.
They’ve gone on date or two they’ve kissed, gone on a picnic. People have tried to push them together to no avail. The chemistry they showed last year while teasing and taunting each other at the dance marathon sparked interest, but friendship is what has been mainly in the cards. When others on the police force made fun of Natalia for modeling, Brot defended her. He’s allowed Natalia to take the lead in their burgeoning relationship.
Natalia found Brot after talking to her father and gave him a kiss on the lips. Will either be willing to give up their career to date? Did Jesse make these comments to Natalia just to get her thinking? Of course, it is possible that this kiss is yet another tease. I hope it isn’t as AMC actually invests the time and energy in this potential couple. Brot and Natalia deserve a chance at a story that is about them and not just the PVPD.
