GH: The Jason and Sam Collection

General Hospital has posted a collection of Jason and Sam episodes on ABC.com, which will be available until September 30, 2018 for people within the US. Below are my thoughts on this.

Soap Opera Source had the information first after GH's twitter posted a hint.

The tweet announcing the length of the videos being available is embedded below.

So basically it is 15 full episodes of GH starting in December 2003, and going up til March 2018. There are huge gaps, and not just for the time frame where Steve Burton wasn't playing Jason, but also when either Jason or Sam (Kelly Monaco) were involved with others.

Anyway if someone doesn't like Jason and Sam, it can easily be ignored though it is a good indication of which way the show has gone for the romantic lives of the characters. I can understand being annoyed or upset by that.

When it comes to who is sponsoring the videos, now that was ironic. Clorox Bleach, and well there is the saying "brain bleach" about wanting to ignore or erase things you do not like.

For the reason Jason and Sam were chosen, well for a few years Drew was Jason, but due to how it was written, they could theoretically get around it based on how the identity changed. A couple like Sonny and Carly have an unacknowledged recast, as the program has not stated that Carly had plastic surgery, to explain the difference in her look from the 90s to now.  Laura Wright has been in the role since 2005, but Carly and Sonny's history started way before 2005. If ABC did a collection for Sonny, if they only focused on Laura Wright's Carly, I think yet another group of viewers would be upset. And just about every other couple I could think of, one or both of the actors are off the show, or not on contract, and why would GH promote them...

We'll see if I sit through all 15 episodes between now and September 30. If I do I will blog about them. I feel weird though calling this a collection, as my mind goes to the term boxset, as that's what the UK calls their digital online collections of programs.
