Days: Theresa Left Salem

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, Theresa left Salem with her little boy Tate. Below are my thoughts on this development.

Since it was known that Jen Lilley's return stint as Theresa would be short (May - July), I was curious to see how they would use the character.

They finally got the character out of slavery, as Mateo forced her to leave Salem to protect Brady and Tate. That departure was awful, so having it resolved was a good thing. They had Theresa be okay with Chloe being held by Mateo, and John and Paul were nearly killed though Mateo was killed by Chloe. Chloe also mistakenly thought that Theresa was dead, this was all not so good. Xander even made a cameo in this story and did a good thing for a change helping Theresa.

Once back in Salem, everyone blamed Theresa for her imprisonment with a drug lord, instead of a victim of this man. Only Victor who had known what was going on, was decent to her. This was rather frustrating. Victor wanted Theresa to get Brady away from Eve, as to Victor, Theresa was a lesser of evils. Eve originally gave up Brady for Tate's sake, but he chose the older sister after finding out about Chloe.

Eventually this morphed into a family court case, which went over the 4th of July holiday that was strange. Theresa was living with JJ, and Eve and Brady were in a hotel suite. JJ was an amazing support to Theresa, and out of everyone in this story he fared the best, as he was noble. Theresa and Brady both wanted sole custody, and Chloe and Maggie had to testify. The whole situation with the amulet also came up, and Brady admitted to Eve that Nicole killed Deimos, while drugged at the party. Eve wanted Brady to tell the court it was Nicole, as the judge may suspect he was a murderer.

Theresa and Brady nearly came to agree to share custody, but things went wrong. During a home visit, drugs were found at JJ's place. He protected Theresa, but the drugs were clearly put there by Victor and Eve, who wanted Brady to win. If the drugs hadn't been planted it would have been settled. Eventually the court had enough, and decided that Theresa would have custody, but she had to no longer live or spend time with JJ.

Theresa lot her job that Victor gave her for winning custody. She was given permission by her Uncle Roman to move in over the pub. Then she got the awful news about her mother Kimberly being ill. Theresa decided that she and Tate needed to be with her mother. Brady was devastated that Theresa having sole custody would go to California. Once he found out why, his anger dissipated, as he felt his son should get to know his grandmother.

At least this three month story wrapped up some loose ends, and created more threads. JJ getting into trouble with his job, Eve being responsible for it, could send Eve and Jennifer into another battle. Everyone finding out what Victor did, would get them angry with him again as well.
