Thoughts about "Neighbours" - April 2018

Below is my April entry about "Neighbours" for 2018.

Holly left town as she got an internship to study in China. She hadn't asked anyone, when she applied and was surprised to get this honor. Karl ended up doing the research work after all, as Clive relented. Karl realized one of the participants was ill, and was surprised that he was the one in danger of a stroke. He started taking meds without telling Susan, cut himself and could have died.

Sonya and Nell came home, and Toadie was glad to see them. Toadie wanted to raise the money he lost to Andrea still. Everyone tried to get him clients, and it helped. He was behind on his rent for his law office also.

Poppy and Jimmy began dating, though she was still mean to Kirsha.  Jimmy's father returned, and Elly began dating him not knowing his identity. Jimmy became ill, and Liam found him.

David and Aaron got back together after Rafael left to look for Dakota. Chloe got the job at Lassister's as Leo's assistant, while he took over Therese's position, as she is on leave. Therese and Gary got engaged, but then broke it off again. Due to all of Piper's losses, she became a bit emotionally unstable. She freaked when the Brennans got rid of Tyler's chair, but David bought it for safe-keeping. Piper then met a guy who left books at the exchange (little library), who underlined passages, she liked. She went to a bar with him, and he attempted to rape her. She escaped, and began getting help, from her mother, Steph, whose had these kind of issues, and anti-depressants.

Chloe tried to cheer Xanthe up, and gave her alcohol on the job. Since Xanthe is underage, even her missing Ben was not enough of a justification. Xanthe said she chooses school over work, which protected Chloe.

Mishti miscarried her and Leo's baby. Her friend, who was a corrupt cop came town, and robberies started to happen. We also found out that Mishti's former fiance, who died on the job also was not as good as he seemed.

Yashvi tried to start an Aussie rules team, but not enough girls were interested, so she was allowed to join the Eden Hills team. At a game where a scout was in attendance, Dipi lost it on a father of a player on the opposing team. He then yelled at Yashvi, and Yashvi missed the score. Dipi was banned from going to any additional games by Yashvi, as mother and daughter continued to argue.

Jane, who used to live in the neighbourhood with her grandma Nell, came back to town for a visit. She used to be Paul's assistant, and interacted with a lot of different people. Back in the 80s, she was the Face of Lassister's and went from Plain Jane Superbrain to just Jane. Jane tried to get close to the Rebecchi's as they lived in her former home. She wanted to find stamps belonging to her grandma, and tutored Kirsha to get access to the house. Jane had a scene with Sonya, Toadie, and Nell, and they spoke of pets, and Jane even knew of Toadie even being away for years.  Clancy didn't like Jane, as he realized she was up to something. While digging in the yard, Jane got electrocuted, she told the truth, and Dipi and Shane decided to help her. Dipi, Shane, Yashvi, Kirsha and their dog Clancy tried to become the face of Lassisters. Both Aaron and David were short-listed and then teamed up, the Rebecchi's won though. They got free benefits at the complex for the next year.

Sheila found out from Clive that her new medication had a side effect of memory loss. They decided to change the drugs, and she ended up being much better. Sheila and Mark helped frame Mishti's best friend, the corrupt cop.

Those were the highlights of April 2018. It was a bit of an "off" month in a sense, as a lot happened, but the cast seems so much smaller.
