Halloween in Soapland 2017

Below is my write-up of what happened on US soaps over Halloween in 2017.

"The Bold and the Beautiful" mentioned Halloween, but there was no on screen party at the Bikini Bar like in some previous years. At Spectra Fashions, Saul and Darlita were in these interesting cardboard costumes, and Sally was given a princess costume, which was a play on Steffy.

"Days of Our Lives" had a special Halloween episode that aired on the day. Where Abby had a dream, and people came back from the dead. Paige returned and upset JJ, as she blamed him for her death. She got revenge by attacking and killing both Lani and JJ. The same thing happened to Chad, as Serena saw him, as if he hadn't hit on her, she wouldn't have gone out in the night at that time, and got attacked by Ben Weston. Abby walks in, and Serena kills both Chad and Abby (and there was an elephant ha). Also in this story, Steve got a visit from Kayla, but then discovered she was dead. She had been strangled, and was wearing a scarf around her neck. Kayla had seen Ben and a resuscitated Rolf, which is why she was a victim. Steve killed Ben for his murder of Kayla. Rolf was also reunited with Princess Gina, as Hope disappeared, Rafe was murdered in that section.

"General Hospital" had Joss and Oscar dressed up as Khaleesi and Jon Snow from "Game of Thrones" they were going to a costume party. Of course, it begs to wonder if they are related by blood, and shouldn't be dating. That was the only real Halloween thing this year with the two Jasons story. Also Monica was upset with Olivia for decorating the house with a lot of Halloween items, but since we didn't see it, hard to attach or care.

"The Young and the Restless" had trick or treating at the coffeehouse, a party at the Ashbys, and a fire at the Underground. Sharon, Nick, Victoria, Chelsea, and Billy all saw their younger kids in costume. Scott and Faith finally met, and after her stopped being scared of Sharon's daughter they got along. Noah, Tessa, Mariah, and Devon also saw each other on the holiday. Cane held a party for the twins, and Reed was invited. They ended up going to the underground in costume, a fire was set accidentally by Dina, and Billy saved their lives though he was pinned under rubble.

It was interesting that two soaps had a lot to do with the holiday and the others glossed over it. With Y&R having as much as they did over more than one episode was a surprise, as that was something the show was saying it was going to avoid doing. Hmmm. Having a somewhat standalone episode of Days was an interesting idea, though I didn't expect that with the whole Will plot. B&B couldn't give an episode that wasn't about sky the skyscraper, but hopefully that will be over soon. Hopefully GH will give a bit more focus to the next holiday of Thanksgiving if only due to the awkwardness two people claiming to be Jason, hopefully we'll see one of them eat pizza.
