Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on
RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of August
1974.
Toni has seen her baby, but we the audience have yet to see Michael Paul. He has recovered from the surgery, and should be out of the hospital soon. Alan told Toni about his feelings, but Toni felt he should try to fix things with Margo. Alan moved out of their apartment and into quarters at the hospital due to the lies about the apartment furniture. Margo borrowed money from her mother-in-law, and didn't tell Alan, how she was paying Ellen back. Steve prescribed medication for Toni's moods, but her behavior is based on her situation. Margo and Gil went to the lake together. He tried to get her into bed, and drove them to a hotel. She got him out of the car, and drove away. He hitchhiked back to town. Alan found Margo and Gil together, when he was attempting to force her to have sex. So the month ended with Margo leaving town for California, and no one being happy.
Off screen, we found out that Erich wanted to be an Uncle to Michael Paul like Billy. Karen had a dream, where she saw Steve, and she thought he was Erich. Otherwise they fretted about Nick and Ann's situation.
Ann left for for Obanda, and Nick still wanted her. He didn't want to be broken up, but neither would budge. Ann called Nick before she left, but Nick left his apartment to see her at the hospital- signals were crossed, and nothing was settled.
Hank found out about Lauri being able to sing again. Harry came around, and wanted her to just record music when she wants to, but she isn't interested.
Cadman and Martha interacted again, but mainly Cadman tried to help Penny. They gave her "truth" serum, to see if she could remember more about John's death. It wasn't successful, and Althea was out of sorts. She still loves Nick, but knows that they won't be together.
Those
were the highlights of August 1974. There was one preemption (August 28) and one missing episode (August 2). Gil's attitude about rape was horrid, oh if I want it it isn't. If they wanted us to hate him that did it.
